I read on a news site that Juan Rodriguez' wife is divorcing him.  This is the NYC guy who just won the $149 million in Mega Millions jackpot.  Poor guy, guess his wife is gonna run with whatever she can get!

what would be interesting is if the judge gave her half of his stuff...BUT....since she didn't buy the ticket and plus left him before he got the money decides she is entitled to nothing........

It doesnt work like that. I dont know what the laws are like in NY but in California, if your spouse decides she wants a divorce, she doesnt need a reason. California is a "no fault" state when it comes to divorce. And whatever a wife and her husband makes during marriage, they are in it 50/50 when it comes to the courts. So if the laws are the same in NY, his wife has a legitimate claim to his lottery win.

Marriage and lotteries are similar , you have to pay to play and there's no guarantees.

Quite possible she could get more than half especially if the guy treated her poorly during the marrage. It will all depend on what picture is painted before the judge. No matter they will both have enough cash to continue living well for some time.

Given this guys track record with finances she made the right move. The money will last longer with her than with him.
