I thought that you all from Tx might want to see this.
Thanks for contacting us.
We take extreme care to be sure our games are completely fair and
honest. Our security procedures are very strict, and it is illegal for
anyone to interfere with those procedures. Davila, Buschhorn and
Associates, P.C., an independent accounting firm, oversees our on-line
game drawings. Independent auditors used by the instant ticket
manufacturers perform audits on each instant game produced. We also
conduct our own audits on each instant game. Each on-line drawing is
conducted by members of our security division, and certified by the
independent auditor. Results are reviewed by an independent
statistician, Dr. Randy Eubank of Texas A&M University, who must certify
that the results are truly random. And all of our drawings are open to
the public. We invite you to attend one if you're in Austin on a drawing
night. Our studio is located at 611 East 6th Street in Austin.
Preparations for the drawings begin at 7 pm on draw nights. You're
welcome to watch every step of the procedure.
By law, the Lottery undergoes a rigorous security audit every two
years. Those audits have found no evidence of security problems that
would compromise the integrity of the games. A copy of the complete
report is available by making a written request to the Texas Lottery
Commission, P.O. Box 16630, Austin, TX 78761-6630. There may be a charge
for the report. You can also see these audits for 2000 and 2002 on our
Web site. From the home page (www.txlottery.org), click the link for
About Us. Scroll down and click Security Audits.
There are no current plans to move to computerized drawings in any of
our games. The concept has been discussed, but no such plans are
currently under way.
