The Pigskin Challenge: POWERBALL 2-26-05

The object of The Pigskin Challenge is to correctly identify the five numbers to be drawn from the Powerball game's 5/53 matrix using ten number selections or less. Making predictions on the red Powerball from the 1/42 matrix is optional. For those who dare, you can specify just one number as most likely to hit from your 5/53 picks. You can do the same with your red Powerball numbers if you predict any. Just be sure to make it perfectly clear which one number you are selecting as most likely to hit in its given matrix. There's no penalty if you don't specify a most likely number. It's just an attempt to get a little better read on how well our systems are working as opposed to having our numbers come up by pure chance.

This is all done with an eye toward helping us improve the accuracy and consistency of our prediction skills. Hopefully, it will also help us find a way to crack this PowerBall game.

I've not changed the 'skindex rating system since the last drawing. I'm just about satisfied with its performance, so I plan to just let it run as it is for a while to see if any bugs come up. I want it to be as fair and accurate as possible, so please feel free to speak up if you have a problem with anything about it. If you've been scoring zeros, there's not much that I can do about that.

Good luck,

aye'

My numbers for tomorrow night's PowerBall drawing are as follows:

    2-5-6-9-24-26-34-40-52  PB: 18-41

I'm looking for a concentration of numbers on the low end this time.

    Good luck to all Challengers,

            getpaid,

Using only five number selections from the 5/53 pool is a bold move. You certainly shouldn't have any trouble covering all the possible combinations with your three red PowerBall numbers. If those numbers come in, you should score well on the 'skindex and cash some nice tickets.

            Good luck,

            aye'

Was anyone else excited about the perfect square progression on the Power Ball a few drawings ago?  9, 16, 25, 36.  13 ended it last drawing, but I guess 49 wasn't an option!  I'm gonna post in a bit, then it's time to move into my new place.

                  JAG,

I hadn't noticed that, but since you've pointed it out, you might also find it interesting to note that while the red PowerBall number could not have progressed to 49, 49 can numerologically be reduced to 13. (4+9=13) How about that?

Now, if the progression goes to 8 squared (64), the red PowerBall number might be 10 (6+4) or 19.  28, 37 and 1 are also numerological possibilities. I have no idea what direction such a progression might take at a jucture like this, but I think one of those five numbers would have to be next. It'll be interesting to see what happens. My guess would be that the 10, 1, or 19 (in that order) would be most likely. Chief kbcherokee and  Litebets27 are both calling for the 37 as the most likely red PowerBall number. We'll see.
