I guess it's just a different lottery culture in Brazil, but their games are all big. They don't have much in the way of smaller prizes. Check out what I mean:
Mega-Sena (Mega Six)
No Minimum Jackpot, usually starts around R$ 1 Million.
Match 5: About R$ 25,000
Match 4: About R$ 250
25% of the prize pool goes into some reserve fund, I don't know what it's for.
Two sets of numbers are drawn. The first set drawn only counts if you match all 6. If you match 5 in the first set, it doesn't count. The second set wins if you match 4 or more.
Match 6 - First Set : Usually starts around R$ 300,000
Match 6 - Second Set : Around R$ 200,000, rolls down to the other 2nd set prizes if not won? (not sure)
Match 5 - Second Set: Usually around R$ 3,000, has gotten up to $12,000
Match 4 - Second Set: Around R$60
Probably the easiest game to win, even though the overall odds are about 1 in 200. Costs R$ 0.50
Match 5: Starts around R$100,000, grows similarly to TN Lotto 5.
Match 4: Around R$ 2,500
Match 3: Around R$ 75
Mania is right. You have to pick 50 numbers out of 100 in this one! Fortunately, they only draw 20. If you match 16-20, or no numbers right, you win. I'm not even going to describe the prizes. The top prize is around R$ 500,000.
