I am a firm believer in the "$1 is all it takes to win" philosophy, so I only play a $1 quickpick per drawing no matter the jackpot size.  Certainly, I am tempted to play more when a jackpot is huge, but my odds really are not that much more improved going from 1:41 million to 10:41 million (for CA SuperLotto).  I have no "system" for picking numbers, and I really only play to win the jackpot.  The smaller prizes do not motivate me to play.

What do you all think?

Different games require different betting styles.  A jackpot game with huge odds and a payoff close to covering those odds may be worth a $1 bet.

A pick 3 game might be worth more bets per game because it's easier to win something.

No vote from me because it's like comparing apples to oranges.

Depends on the jackpot and what game it is.  For Cash 3 or 4 it's $1 per drawing.  Powerball right now it's $1 after the jackpot gets to a certain level I'll add more plays.  Lotto 5 is the same.

How are you going to win if you don't play?

$1-$10 on mega millions, mostly depends on jackpot size.

I bought $120 worth of pick quicks one time on the Georgia lotto and didn't even get one $3 winner.

With the lottery I get all the exercise I need.

Only play one dollar on MM and Texas Lotto because the odds are so huge.  I save my dollars for Pick 3 because I have a chance of actually winning something.

I spend $5 on Powerball whenever the jackpot goes over $200 million. I won $4 last time. Cool!

God. The odds were actually in your favor with 120 plays in a 6/46 game.

dang,  you must be my brother from another mother.

lets see.  you only play $1 on each draw and you only play a quick pick.  you don't play for the lower tier prizes,  only the big one.  and in another thread you said that you believe that if you are meant to by God to win, you will.  you don't hang your "hope" on winning the lottery,  knowing were your peace really lies.

if you choose lump sum over annuity, then you and i should start a cult in here.  we can be an army of two.

imagine if one of us wins,  just how many will join the cult?  the answer is none.  the next day they will be right back to thier pencil and paper, having completely missed as to why we did.

oh well,  we must press on anyway.  beall that you can be soldier.  we have a "job" to do (lol).

I do choose lump sum over annuity, for several reasons:

                          1.  I want total control over how the money is invested.

                          2.  I can get a better return than if I took the annuity.

                          3.  I can better budget by knowing exactly how much money I have been blessed with.

                          4.  I have specific plans and purposes that I feel I am being led to use the money for which require the lump sum.

                          5.  One dollar is worth more now than one dollar 26 years from now.

                          6.  How do I know that the lottery agency is still going to be able to pay me 20+ years from now?!

So, my play is $1 quickpick lump sum.  Once MM is available in CA, I will buy a $1 quickpick lump sum for that as well.

If I win, I win.  If I don't, I don't.  Naked I came out of my mother's womb and naked shall I return.  The Lord gives and the Lord takes away.  Blessed be the name of the Lord.

                            Usually $2 - $4... sometimes $5 - $10+ IF I have a feeling.

                              Hi MickSeven, from Philly here-

I usually do about $10-20 on Mega.
