Thanks, that was a good read.  That seems like a smart young guy who wrote it.  He has a great Blog.

I would be afraid to spend $100 on scratch offs.  My mom spent $60 on them and lost on every ticket.  Only thing wrong I can think of is she bought 2 of every ticket there.  She should have bought one kind and been done with it.

How are you going to win if you don't play?

i think that guy was very lucky.  had he bought all 100 tickets at the same store, he would have had a better chance of getting all those winners, and possibly more, but since he bought the tickets at different stores, there was a good chance he could have come up empty.

I've redone my website.  Go to www.dr-ew.com.  I kept a lot of the old stuff, and I've added some new stuff.  Look for more new stuff in the coming weeks.

Honestly, I don't think there's a better or worse way. I read a story here at LP about a gas station boss giving 2 employees a job to throw away a book of scratch tickets cos either they all expired, or all the 1st prizes were already won. The 2 employees scratched em all. Not ONE ticket was worth over $100.

Interesting experiment indeed.  The odds of winning something are printed on the ticket and posted to state lottery websites.  Louisiana has recently put a section on their state lottery website detailing how many winning tickets for each amount for the various scratch games are still out there.  In other words, it may be possible to determine approximate odds of winning from these numbers, but I haven't actually tried to yet.
