Lottery Pools have to be local because U.S. Postal regulations forbid sending money (including money orders, checks, etc.) for playing the lottery.

I live in a state that has no lotteries.  Our elected officials
seem to be worried about our morals.  I currently play
MegaMillions in Illinois and Powerball in Colorado.  I have
had no problems yet.  A few extra bucks could be played
            in a pool.

over a year ago I was trying to get like 5 people to chip in about $20 a piece to play pick 4 at * *

so that we could try and hit for about $2000 a piece.

I would consider $5 per player for MegaMillions; prefer-
ably quickpick extended play.  When limit of quickpick
extended play is reached, a second set of numbers could
be added.  Do you think anyone else is interested?  I already
play $40 per month.  Not good for us poor people.  I get
10 plays in Powerball and 10 plays in MegaMillions.  I play
2 sets of numbers per lottery per month.  MegaMillions is
very hard to even get one number.

Lottery "Stuff"?  If so, you have committed a felony.

They say that playing lottery online at the "Tabu or Taboo" place is also a felony, isn't it ?

Some laws are just not right, we of course should not break them.

Here is a quote from the USPS Domestic Mail Manual.  You can also look up 18 USC 1302 and 18 USC 1307 in the United States Federal Code.

                      USPS Domestic Mail Manual

                      12.3 Lottery Matter (18 USC 1302)

                      12.3.2 Unlawful Mail Matter

Unlawful matter includes any letter, newspaper, periodical, parcel, stamped card or postcard, circular, or other matter permitting or facilitating participation in a lottery; any lottery ticket or part thereof or substitute; and any form of payment for a lottery ticket or share.

I didn't know it was a felony.  I know there has been some discussion on LP about whether it is against the law or not.  I would be interested to see the U.S. Code that defines it.  If it is a felony, I will stop doing it.

Don't let all of the stuff said there bother you too much at all, no matter what, it is still a gray area more or less.

Just pay your taxes and keep on trucking.

                              Good luck.
