I personally think we are in for the crazy swings in jackpot increases we have ever seen; primarily because California has joined.  Watch the frenzy over the next 2 draWS.

I'm going to say if no one wins on Friday, then the estimated jackpot will be $200 million. But since they cant accurately guess how people in California will react to their first jackpot over $200 million, I'm going to say the jackpot will be re-estimated to $230 million by Friday night. I voted for $220 million but I think it will be around $225 million - $230 million by next Tuesday night assuming no one wins on Friday night.

This will be interesting to watch, because we can really see the effect of California now:

On April 19th (just 3 months ago), the jackpot rolled from $168 million to $205 million for the April 22nd drawing, at which time it was hit.

Prior to that, the last time it was this big was one year ago on June 25, 2004, when it was $177 million.  After that, the jackpot went to $220 million on the 29th, then straight to $290 million on July 2, 2004 (when it was hit).

What does this mean?  I think that if we get a big bounce after this drawing, and the jackpot goes to $220 or $225 million next Tuesday, we could possibly be looking at a $300 million jackpot one week from tomorrow.

I saw that the NY Lottery is heavily marketing the current MM jackpot, and I'd be curious to know (from our California members) if California is doing the same.

By the way, all the information I'm showing above on jackpot dates and amounts is available to anyone, and is very simple to obtain by going to USA Mega, and clicking on Mega Millions Previous Results.  The jackpot amounts are listed for each drawing, along with the results, and by clicking on the date you can see all the information there is to know about that particular drawing.

It WILL be broken.  Will it happen during this jackpot run?  Who knows.

                  Todd-

I think if it is not hit tomorrow night, that we absolutely will see a $310 million pot next Friday!  Before starting this poll, I did what you suggested above.  I calculated previous winnings and got extremely excited.  So, although someone could do a great deal with the $170,000 jackpot, I would love for it to skip at least one more draw before someone hits, two draws would be even more exciting.

I agree.  He hit $315 million with Powerball matrix odds of 120m:1.  Someone, someday will hit the new Mega Millions 175m:1 odds for $450m.

If it rolls three more times, we could be in all-time record territory.  Four rolls will certainly make it the all-time highest jackpot for any game, and with the crazy odds, I predict only one winner.  The new Jack, if you will.

BTW, I voted $245M, because there was no higher number.  You were looking for two draws out, right?

There was a $250M option. Why are the amounts out of order!?

They are in the order that they were entered when selS created the poll.  It doesn't sort them.  The one entered in the first space is shown first.  The one entered in the second space is shown second.  Etc.
