What's keeping this game from expanding? (more states and/or bigger matrix)

Because it's perfect the way it is. Well, almost perfect. They could stand for some more money for 5-of-6 winners.

If you added the populations of GA, KY, and VA, you'd find that 6/49 is too small. Remember that VA had a single-state 6/49 game when LS began.

Reason: Most of the non-lottery states are in the South.

Louisiana would be a logical choice for an addition to Lotto South since they share borders with three more of the states.

What's so special about this game?

Nothing.  All of the secondary prizes are woefully small in comparison to the odds.  If you're going to a large jackpot though, the odds are certainly much better with Lotto South than with PowerBall or Megamillions.

CASH Only, did someone win from Lotto South in last draw?

Lotto South will celebrate its fourth anniversary next month. I find it somewhat frustrating that the three states running the game are not going for its full potential (matrix has always been 6/49, which IMO is too small given the populations of GA, KY, and VA) and that a fourth state has yet to join. I'm wondering if a new state (eg LA, SC) is waiting for a larger matrix before joining.

LS was hit last night at $5 million. It would not be a total surprise if it turns out that the majority of LS jackpots have been won at $5 million or less since it began four years ago this month.
