And the debate continues. What states should join Lotto South, and which states should go on their own. Here's my opinion, take it, leave it, or loathe it.
Who Should Join Lotto (magnolia) South?
South Carolina - I don't know about you, but South Carolina could really use Lotto South. It's got a huge gap needing a Pick 6, and 3 million plus people just isn't enough to support an in-state game. Lotto South would fill in the gap just fine.
West Virginia - It may be between Ohio and Pennsylvania at it's northern tip, but it's culture is all south (mountain folk, banjos, it's like the smokies). Lotto South will perform in WV. A lot better than Hot Lotto is.
Who Should Go In-State?
North Carolina - The fastest growing state on the east coast (except Florida, I think). It will boast 11,000,000 people by 2030, and that's clearly big enough for North Carolina's own Lotto. Lotto South with North Carolina would either get too long odds to be appealing as a pick-6, or would get won all the time. NC should have it's own 6/49 or higher.
Tennessee - No one's quite sure wether TN is too big for Lotto South or too little for an in-state game. Well I believe that every state should go it alone when possible, and TN is just big enough to do that. The matrix is a tough one, it could work from anywhere between a 6/42 and a 6/52. Tennesseans like their lottery, and might buy more tickets than one would think.
That's my thought. I'm sure I'll get some replies here (I know TNPlayer and LottoMike will be in this thread).
