The last time Mega Millions had multiple jackpot winners was on November 21, 2003, when three tickets split a $70 million pot (and two of those tickets were bought by the same person).
The last time a Mega Millions jackpot was hit under $100 million (or under $50 million for that matter) was on December 3, 2004, when it was $24 million.
The last time Powerball had multiple jackpot winners was on December 22, 2004, when three tickets split a $30 million pot.
Currently, the Mega Millions jackpot has been hit eight times this year so far. If it can go until 2006 without another winner, it will set a record for the least amount of jackpot hits in a single year -- its current record of nine was set in 2000 (the year of the record annuity jackpot). Powerball's current record low amount of jackpot hits is eight, set in 2001.
