  That's shorter than the one I attempted to make. 

  I sure wish I knew how to make short formulas--but I guess it is going to come with time.

  I am designing my (all states) spreadsheet to look like this.  All on 1 page.

  In the end, I hope to figure out formulas that will apply a conditional format for all the filters that Lantern has taught in his tutorials.

  for powerplayer,

  if you're just looking for the number of skips between every instance of e.g. 123 in one state, it's basically an if-then inside a for-next loop inside a do-while(while-wend). If 2 numbers have the same lowform value, the skip is (draw A - draw B - 1). Set draw B as your new start point (new draw A) and look for the next instance of lowform. Do that until you run out of numbers. You'll just need a few vars to track the positions of A and B, but you have all the parts here. If you want something more complicated, you'll have to describe it in more detail.

  I belive this will help. Going to work on it tonight.

  I want to do more then just one state also. I want to track the movement of a combination through each state.

  Example # 120:

  Tue, Dec 13, 2005	Kentucky	Pick 3	1-2-0
  Mon, Dec 12, 2005	Ohio	Midday Pick 3	1-0-2
  Sun, Dec 11, 2005	California	Midday 3	0-1-2
  Sun, Dec 11, 2005	Washington, D.C.	Midday Lucky Numbers	0-2-1

  
  
  

  This # has come out 4 times since Dec. 11th.

  I want the formula to do a hit and skip tracking from washington to cali to ohio to kentucky and give off the amount of skip and hit in a cell next to the # 120 seperate worksheet or the same one.

  The goal is to know how many days out a # has gone between states.

  It's a idea of mine ..not sure if any one tried it yet.

  So the cell for the answer would be like this:

  012:skip:hit

  021: skip:hit

  102

  120

  201

  210

  I have a sheet set up with all 1,000 combination typed out in each cell like the 012.

  It took awhile to do but, it's done...thank god for copy and paste.

  Maybe a macro can do this?

  One last thing....thinking in the future I will add a name reference to this also so I can cordinate the # with the state and see what state hits what combination the most while tracking the hits and skips of a state on a certain combination.

  I know the tools here on LP can do it. I have used them but, I'm trying to do this for my program with a lot of other things intergrated into it with out always having to go on LP to do it.

  A macro will let you interact across multiple worksheets and across multiple workbooks. Each has it's advantages.
  

  It looks like you want to track the number first, and the state second.

  You could set the states next to each other by column, or put each one on a seperate sheet, making sure that e.g. Dec. 11 is on the same row in each sheet. Then, when you do a row comparison, you would add an extra loop that would let you check that row for each state.

  Sort of saying:

  check row 500 of every sheet and look for #120. 

  If you use a select-case/end-select, you can edit your list of states very easily (literally changing a few lines) and the program will work just fine. Just adding these few things allows you do much more complex analysis.
