Man I'm getting of writing about the Hoosier Lottery! And I had to really search for this one:
OK...the Hoosier (Indiana) Lottery has recently (and again without fanfare or public announcement that I could find) just awarded their advertising contract to the firm of Brandy, Carrol, Hellige of Lousiville Kentucky. The only blurb I could find on this came from the firm's news release page:
Why is this important? Well, Govenor Daniels made a big deal of his opponent outsourcng Indiana jobs to firms located in other states. One of his campaign promises was to keep state contracts with state firms. here's a short blurb that outlines the issue better than I can:
But why is this a potential scandal for the Hoosier Lottery? Here's another blub I found where a source claims the Executive Director (allegedly) misquoted something in the contract regarding commission's paid to the firm that previously held the contract and (allegdedly) neglected to mention that the new firm would be getting a commission:
I should make it clear that at this point I have no real factual data about this, only the information I have seen in these internet releases. It will be interesting to see if this story has any traction.
