Greetings!

OK ..... here's the scoop. I've been toying with an idea with Pick 5. I was wondering if anyone could help with this process, either through Excel or other means. I want to try to find ALL combos in a Pick 5 game with similar sums. Here's an example of what I'm trying to find:
01 - 02 - 03 - 04- 05 = 15
Now .... what other combos equal 15?
Right now, I am trying to pinpoint ALL Combos in a Pick 5 game that features the numbers 1 - 31 and that have the sums 73 and 74. An example of this would be:
01-10-12-20-31 = 74
I hope this is making sense.
Anyway, does anyone out their know of a way of coming up with ALL combos in a Pick 5 game as described above? If so, please respond. All help is greatly appreciated!

The code in even QBSAIC is relatively easy:

FOR A% = 1 TO 27
FOR B% = A% + 1 TO 28
FOR C% = B% + 1 TO 29
FOR D% = C% + 1 TO 30
FOR E% = D% + 1 TO 31
A% + B% + C% + D% + E% = Z%
IF Z% = 73 THEN PRINT A%; B%; C%; D%; E%
IF Z% = 74 THEN PRINT A%; B%; C%; D%; E%
NEXT E%
NEXT D%
NEXT C%
NEXT B%
NEXT A%
END

There are 169,911 possibilities in a 5/31 matrix. Sums chart:

Now ..... here's the big question ... how do I find out the 3,315 combos with the sum of 73 for a 5/31 drawing? Do you have any idea of how to come up with these combos?

The upper limit on the sum chart would be:
2+7+2+8+2+9+3+0+3+1= 37

When I play Megamillions I do something similar. The odds of winning Megamillions are normally 1:3,819,816 x 46, however when I play within the parameters sums = 95-200, ranges = 30-48 and the maximum gaps between numbers = 23 which have included 80% of previous winning numbers I reduce my odds of winning to 1:1,739,340 x 46 which is a 220% improvement.

* you don't need to buy every combination, just the winning ones *

Curious to know what "ranges = 30-48" mean. Reference to numbers in a certain column? Max gap and sums I understand.....

Range is the amount of numbers covered from the lowest value number to the highest value number in the combinations. For example the last MM combination 05 21 27 44 53 +36 had a range of 49, the gaps were 16, 6, 17, and 9, the sum was 150. Needless to say, that combination wasn't in my group, I might have to widen my range to 30-49.
