Are you playing within your budget, or are you borrowing money to buy tickets?
I've redone my website. Go to www.dr-ew.com. I kept a lot of the old stuff, and I've added some new stuff. Look for more new stuff in the coming weeks.

If you're buying Quick Picks you're throwing your money away, same for playing high odds games. Only play games you spend real time studying the history of the number's movements across time and make tickets based on what you extrapolate from history or at least make educated guesses as to what numbers have a chance of coming in and wheel them with at least a high percentage of a minimum guarantee. Lottery is a hobby, you get better at it when you spend a reasonable amount of time thinking about and working on your hobby. Even for the player with one dollar to invest a month there is no reason not to try to get that one ticket correct. BobP

It really depends on your circumstance. I'll spend $100 or more on the very rare high jackpot but I have no children and no debts. That only occurs once or twice a year. If you always feel the need to be in the game than call the toll free gambling number offered in your state and provided for free.

Oh no.. I'm not a big spender. Really.. the only thing i spend money on is Gas and Lotto tickets..
its nto like my idiot friend who pays $60 dollars worth of cigerrettes a month.
It's not always how much a person spends that can be a problem, but why he/she spends it. We all have hopes of winning, but the big jackpots are games of chance and have great odds. That money should never be something we depend on. It might change your life forever, but it also might never happen. I hope everyone here will be very lucky someday. At the same time we have to tell ourselves the truth is one can spend $200 a week for 80 years and never win a huge PB or MM jackpot or even a State Lottery. So as long as a person is not borrowing money to play or using food/rent money, it's a personal choice. As you above noted, people spend a lot more on habits like smoking. I know people who smoke 2 packs a day. Isn't that over $100 a month? I've worked with many people who'd buy a $10 lunch and stop for Happy Hour some evenings. I'd make peanut butter & jelly or nuke some leftovers, and they thought I was crazy to waste my money on Lotto tickets. I'm probably the last one who should give my opinion, because I once thought about driving to Georgia to buy some MM tickets and it's over 400 miles from here. (I didn't!) In Dec a couple drove from AL to play the FL megamoney and won 1/2 of the $1.5M jackpot. I'm not encouraging it, but taking a ride to another state to buy lottery tickets is not that uncommon. 90 minutes isn't that far, but it's a waste of gas...that is, unless you win!
Regarding the quickpicks, I disagree they're any more of a waste than using a system. It's just my humble opinion and I also used to think that way. However, a lot of people win with them. On Sat someone won $50M in FL using a QP and the last big jackpot in December ($46M) was also a QP. Many PB & MM winners buy them too. That again is a personal choice. I've been chasing a few sets of numbers for over 10 years, which is silly, but I'm afraid to change. Now that's when you know you're a bit whacky, but I believe my insanity is manageable.

Korean Redneck,
If the PowerBall jackpot rolls a couple of more times, I'll also be taking a two hour drive to Indiana to Cash in a $3 ticket from Oct.19 to buy $20-$40 worth of tickets again. Usually the MegaMillions jackpot is enough to keep me home, but a $175M+ jackpot is enough to make a road trip. Good luck to you.

In my opinion, you're not. I think the difference between addiction and habit is not that big. We all tend to consume something habitually to a certain extent. As far as ticket buying is manageable under your control, I don't think it can be called addction.
In Korean lotto, multiplay is not offered at all. I believe that multiplay or subscription, if offered, may help at least some players to save their money.

You folks are starting to make me feel guilty....................I live in NJ where Mega Millions is offered, but I rarely buy tickets. At 175,000,000+ to 1, I never feel THAT lucky! I did, however, buy 5 tickets last week (QP, Please don't shoot me!), and got 3 numbers right for a whopping $7. I've had much more luck with Cash 5 the past month. I may be bordering on obsession with that game. I'm not greedy.........a few hundred million would hold me over just fine!!!!

Why would you feel guilty? I know lots of folks who do things I don't and have no plans to ever do. I play the lotteries for my own entertainment and enrichment if I'm lucky, what others chose to do is their problem.

Hey RJOh - What I meant by that was, I feel guilty for living in a state that offers MM and don't play, while others will travel hundreds of miles to get a ticket!

Everyone, I'm addicted in terms of playing MM and PB fantasy picks. However, I don't gamble too much. If CA SLP reaches $48+ million or Mega Millions hits $300+ million, I would play.
