My understanding is: it is the same thing as "wheeling" numbers.

Permutations are nothing more than rearranging the sequence of digits in any given number. Any number other than an triple has permutations. A number with two identical digits (a "double") has three permutations, a number where all three digits are different has six permutations.

You play permutations every time you "box" a number.

So you could actually use the combinations formula  nCr to narrow down the choices and then play boxed, right?
