LOTTERY EMPLOYEE WINS $8.5 MILLION LOTTO 6/49 JACKPOT
Today Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLGC) congratulates Stephen Cook of Toronto who became a multi-millionaire when he collected a LOTTO 6/49 jackpot prize worth more than $8.5 MILLION.
Cook, 50, who has been with OLGC for 18 years, is an Operations Analyst working primarily with Blackberry systems..He was overwhelmed when he discovered the great news. “My life has changed forever. I will no longer have any money concerns,” said Cook. Upon checking and repurchasing his lottery tickets, which Cook has played for the past 14 years, he was in complete shock when the clerk showed him the validation slip. “There were so many numbers. I didn’t realize how much the amount was at first. Then I took another look and was speechless,” Cook told Ontario Lottery Gaming Corporation staff in Toronto when he claimed his LOTTO 6/49 jackpot prize of $8,508,027 from the March 22 draw.
With the windfall, Cook plans to pay off his mortgage, invest funds and purchase a new vehicle. “I’m sure I’ll think of other things to buy in the future. I’m really happy I’ll be mortgage-free,” added Cook.
As Cook works at the OLGC, his win was verified through OLGC’s “Insider Win Policy and Procedures”.
The winning LOTTO 6/49 ticket was purchased at Info Place in the Don Mills Shopping Centre on Lawrence Avenue East In North York.
