Rick G, anybody:

This is the Illinois Little Lotto Results for July 15th '06:

 PLAYER(S) MATCHING 5 OF 5 NUMBERS
    INCLUDING SUBSCRIPTION WINNERS:        3
 EACH PLAYER WILL RECEIVE:        $126,666.50

      WINNING TICKET(S) WERE SOLD AT:

      166108    A K FOOD
            5900 W MONTROSE
            CHICAGO/60634

      122754    GENERAL CAB SERVICE
            3145 N WESTERN AVE
            CHICAGO/60618

      122754    GENERAL CAB SERVICE
            3145 N WESTERN AVE
            CHICAGO/60618

 ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////

 General Cab Service? Sells lottery?

And two duplicate tickets on a draw, jackpot winners, not QP's?

Excuse my paranoia, but this kind of has TIN HAT all over it.

Is General Cab Service the name for a bar or something, or an actual Cab service?

Where to sir?

Soldier Field.

Here you are...that'll be $12.65, make it $212.65 and I can hook you up with two winners in tonight's Little Lotto coming up at 9:22 on WGN - but you'll be splitting it a few ways. Smile "

LOL...........Coin Toss.  I did notice that too.  I'm as baffled as you.  Maybe another IL player who lives close to there can give us an explanation.

The cab service selling lottery tickets is odd enough.  But two winners from the same place?  Did one person run their bet slip twice or did two people have the same combo and they just happened to get their tickets at the same place?

    Very strange indeed!

I typed that address in my search engine and came up with a gas station so it's possibly a gas station which also runs a cab servise.

      Marathon Ashland
      3145 N WESTERN AVE
      Chicago, IL 60618
      $3.379
      07/28/06
      N/A
      $3.569
      07/28/06
      N/A

      Marathon Ashland
GENERAL CAB 3145 N WESTERN AVE
      Chicago, IL 60618

      gas price $3.379 07/28/06
      gas price $3.569 07/28/06

last summer i was in PA and wanted to buy a few tickets i saw a sign that said PA lottery. upon investigating further i found the place was inside a dry cleaning service. Apparently any buisness that wants a lottery machine can get one.

        Four4me,

Thanks for shedding light on that.  I'm still wondering how two winning tickets were sold at the same place.

call em up and ask em.

one person might have run his play slip twice or if he wheeled the numbers it's possible when he filled out the tickets he accidently put the same numbers twice. Or the operator accidently shoved the play slip in twice in either event. nice payday.

            Thanks for the info!

I've played the same ticket twice before, so maybe, maybe it was something like that but still odd. Good forever it was that it hit.  Twice.

            RE: Lottery retailers.

There was a law in California that to be a lottery outlet you had to be in business, at the same location for five years. Then when the Nevada casino industry decided the Nevada- California border on I-15 was a good place for more casinos, the Primm family put one right on the state line. Along with the casino on the Nevada side of the state line, they built a gas statio -conevenience store on the California side, and started selling lottery tickets from day one.

I always wondered how much payola it took to get around the five year rule (or to have it abolished).

            From fourforme's post:

What do you think guys,  3145  3379  3569 in Illinois Pick 4 tonight?

Wonder if they take bets on the Cubs and White Sox and Bears, too.

Sometimes I come to this site and laugh my buttocks off.  You all have a good sense of humor.

Speaking of the Bears...they have made some good changes this year.  If I was a sports betting person, I'd take them to win the black 'n blue division this year barring the usual injuries.  Hope Lovie brings 'em up to speed right.

                      Hey Budward,

I gotta call that gas station / cab service to get the scoop.

When you think about it, it's not a bad business angle.  Car breaks

down, you need a ride somewhere, who you gonna call?  A Cab!

When I owned a bar I tried to set up a Cash Store in 1 corner but didn't have enuff liquid cash to get a franchise.

A guy I worked with actually pulled this one off: took his car into the shop thinking he could just wait for it, they said they'd have to keep it overnight.

He walks to a pizzeria and and asks if he orders a pizza delievered, can he go with it.

The guy in the pizzeria says as long as it's ok with the delivery guy, so he gets a pizza and a ride.

The next day at work the guy is explaining how he could have just sheeled out cab fare, or did what he did and get a ride home - and supper!

That's another good angle.  You get drunk at the bar, the bar has its own cab and drives you home.  (Plus they'll probably get the return business in the morning).  While you're waiting for the cab you have another drink. Everyone is happy.

Lot of ways to make a buck out there.
