I was surprised to see that the Powerball drawing this weekend will be held in NC:
POWERBALL DRAWING TO TAKE PLACE LIVE ON LOCATION IN NC!
RALEIGH- The Powerball drawing machines will roll into North Carolina Saturday all the
way from West Des Moines, Iowa for a live on location Powerball drawing at the American
Tobacco Campus in Durham. The drawing normally takes place at a studio in West Des
Moines and is broadcast live across the country to the 31 Powerball lottery jurisdictions that
are members of the multi-state game, but for the first time the drawing will take place in
North Carolina.
The public will be able to see first-hand drawing host Mike Pace spin the Power Play
multiplier wheel and announce the winning numbers as they come up in the drawing
machines. The numbers are drawn in the presence of multi-state lottery draw officials, an
independent auditor and a security official. With the assistance of WRAL-TV, the drawing
show will be up-linked to nearly 100 television stations nationwide beginning at 10:59 p.m.
Eastern Time. In addition to watching it on WRAL, North Carolinians can come watch it in
person or they can view the live drawing on WCNC (Charlotte) and WITN (Eastern, NC).
To help celebrate Powerball being in North Carolina, there will also be live entertainment
prior to the drawing starting at 9:30 p.m. following the Durham Bulls game. There will be a
juggler, magician, stilt walker and Stormy from the Carolina Hurricanes. There also will be
chances for players to win North Carolina Education Lottery merchandise and prize packs.
