Another large skip for Illinois recently came to an end on 5/03/06 when the straight 628 was drawn.  The last time it was drawn before that was on 10/07/93, which was 8,472 consecutive games prior.  The performance of the three pairs that comprise 628 within the 8,472 game skip period breaks down as follows:

  • Front Pair 62X was drawn 75 times without joining with the digit 8 as P3.
  • Back Pair X28 was drawn 82 times without the digit 6 as P1.
  • Split pair 6X8 was drawn 73 times without the digit 2 as P2.

There was yet another exceedingly large skip that recently came to an end in Illinois just a few weeks ago.  On 9/16/06 the straight 195 was drawn, finally ending its 7,363 consecutive game losing streak.  Before that, the last time it was drawn was on 11/15/95.  The performance of the pairs over the span of this skip is shown below.

  • Front Pair 19X was drawn 60 times without the 5.
  • Back Pair X95 was drawn 67 times without the 1.
  • Split Pair 1X5 was drawn 61 times without the 9.

In Ohio there is an exceptionally large skip that is actively playing out.  The straight number 023 has not hit since January 7th of 1984!  That’s 9,320 consecutive games ago! This is by far my favorite number to play in Ohio.  I’ve been patiently waiting for (and actively playing it) for a good three years now.  Maybe it’s just a stubborn little number or perhaps its just shy.  Either way, it refuses to show it itself.  But no matter though, soon it won’t have a choice and will be forced to make its appearance!  I don’t play this number every game or even everyday for that matter.  Sometimes I wait for indicators of one of its upcoming pairs or one or more of its single digits.  I do, at times, tend to bet a bit larger on it when the two-digit return is due after one of its three “boxed pairs” has fallen.  Here is how the “straight pairs” have performed since 1/07/84:

  • Front pair 02X has been drawn 89 times without the digit 3 in position-three!
  • Back Pair X23 has been drawn 74 times without the digit 0 in position-one.
  • Split pair 0X3 has been drawn 70 times without the digit 2 in position-two.

Adding fuel to the fire, the split pair 0X3 is now out 557 games, which is getting well into due territory.  The back pair X23 is currently out 299 games.  The front pair 02X is only out 42 games now.  But then again, all pairs do indeed have about a 50% chance of being drawn within 69 games of their last hit.  I could be totally wrong, but I seriously doubt that every one of those three pairs will each experience more than two or three hits before 023 is finally drawn—maybe one or two of them, but not all three.

Of course there is still an additional observation that can be made:  boxed or “any-order” forms of the combination 023 have been drawn 46 times since the last time 023 hit straight on 1/07/84.  It could be said that for every time one of the boxed forms is going to hit that there is a 1 in 6 chance (16.66%) that it will be that of the particular 023 permutation…meaning 0-2-3 in that exact order.  This specific order has failed to occur the last 46 consecutive times in which the 0, 2 and 3 were all drawn together.  The upper extreme for the probability of 1 in 6 is about 38 trials for a 99.9% chance and about 51 trials for 99.99% chance.  In this observation the 46 missed chances are definitely into the upper extreme.

Hoiw about one that is much less complicated?  The sum 24 has not appeared in the MD evening game now for 1,095 draws.  That's 10 straights and 4 boxed combos.  For that sum, that's pretty extreme.
