Members,

Has anyone noticed a correlation between PB and MM drawings.  For example, the next MM drawing having some of the same numbers as the last PB drawing?  Vice Versa?

Thanks to all in advance for responding!

Welcome to LP, hope you enjoy your stay and learn lots, along with sharing some of your lottery secrets!!

There appears to be a trend from time to time, but that seems to hinge on what numbers are trending nationally in other games.  Believe you might need to look at a bigger picture than those two games playing off each other.

Also please do join in on Maddog's Mega Million and Powerball challenges.

Good luck to everyone!

Here are the probabilities of having matching numbers between the Powerball and Mega Millions in any single draw comparison.

The math

A = {4, 5} , B = {0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5}

P(A, B) = (C(1, 5 - A) * C(55, A) * C(50, A - B) * C(5, B)) / (C(56, 5) * C(55, A))

A - numbers common in power ball and mega millions
B - selected numbers in mega millions common in selected numbers in powerball

P(A, B) - probability of having A within B

The Table

 4 5 Both 4 + 5 0 0.0602909 0.554676 0.614966794212 1 0.0256557 0.301454 0.327109996921 2 0.00320696 0.0513114 0.054518332820 3 0.000130896 0.00320696 0.003337857111 4 1.30896e-06 6.54482e-05 0.000066757142 5 0 2.61793e-07 0.000000261793

Here's a correlation, they both pick 5 white balls and a bonus ball from a separate field.

I agree JimmySand9 on this one. They sent out 5 winning white balls plus a bonus (mega) ball in another field to send out the winning numbers. I hope that we set new jackpot records soon.
