What's the oldest ticket you've found stashed somewhere?

I just picked up a book and had it bookmarked with a Big Game ticket from 2003.

 Anyone else?

Those who run the lotteries love it when players look for consistency in something that's designed not to have any.

Lep

There is one and only one 'proven' system, and that is to book the action. No matter the game, let the players pick their own losers.

When the Big Game became Mega Millions in 2002, it was called for a time "Big Game Mega Millions". Since then, it has become known as just MM (in 2005 when California joined?)

My tickets are kept on my bulletin board at my desk and are trashed or cashed daily.

        Good Luck!

I've seen tickets in trash cans, but I never checked them out. Personally I keep tickets for 6 months to a year in a shoebox.  Then I dump them.  They're only good for 180 days months from the date of the drawing anyway.  So my answer is "about 1 year old."

Oops - After I read your post, I did some "shoebox cleaning!"  Guess what? I was way behind and had a few from the end of 2004 and my tickets from 2005.

Have a ticket from the Illinois lottery dated Jan 3 1987.

It is a one dollar pick 6 QP. Ran the numbers on the website and after 20 years the combo's haven't hit the jackpot...yet.

You should keep them for the tax uyear just in case you win anything reportable. I hope this doesn't open a can of worms, but the law is you can dedcut your losses up to your winnings (but you have to have proof).

You can't win $1,000 and then say, "Hey, I've lost $2000." Even if you had lost $2,000, you could only deduct $1,000 off of it.

There's actually people in Vegas that make a score late in the year and then hit sports books and Keno parlors looking for losing tickets and try to show huge losses in a short time span.

But anyway, you should keep even the losers for a year. Cigar boxes make nice "ticket graveyards".

I forget who posted about also running a journal, I think it was RJOh - just the tickets aren't good enough, you have to journalize your play, too.

Hate to admit it, but 1984.  It is a Lotto ticket, it is like a business card stock w/color logos with numbers (not a QP) in purple ribbon ink that is still perfectly readable the governers name is on there as well as the chairman of the lottery and the director's signatures and logos The Numbers Game, tha md. state lottery, and LOTTO.  I couldn't throw it away when I found it.
