The other threads brought this to mind...let's make up some of our own "lottery" song parodies, such as

 (Beatles- Yesterday):

The day after a drawing for a big jackpot:

Yesterday, all those numbers seemed so good to play

but I didn't hit a one

not yesterday....

Those who run the lotteries love it when players look for consistency in something that's designed not to have any.

Lep

There is one and only one 'proven' system, and that is to book the action. No matter the game, let the players pick their own losers.

I like musical theatre too, and the first song when I read your post that came to mind was the song from the play Annie.

(The Sun'll Come Out Tomorrow..almost same words)

My number will come up tomorrow

Bet my bottom dollar that tomorrow,

    It will come.

Tomorrow, tomorrow, I love ya tomorrow

    You're always a day away!

    Just thinkin' about tomorrow

Clears away the doubt and the sorrow

That my jackpot will never come

    Whenever I have a dollar

I lift my head and holler

    That tomorrow

    Will be the one!

    Tomorrow, tomorrow

    I love ya tomorrow

    You're always a daaaaay away!!

Don't think you want me to take up 10 screens, so I'll edit a bit:

      From West Side Story:

      Tonight, tonight

      Won't be Just any Night

Tonight I will get 4 out of 5

I Fought The Law & The Law Won:

I spent my paycheck but neighbor won

      Speaking of White Rabbit:

One ticket makes you scratch it

      One just makes you wait

But the ones that you've been playing

Never turn out to be that great.

      Go ask Jack

      I think he'll know.

When men get fame & fortune

And they start hanging out at bars

      When logic and proportion

      Leaves only tears and scars

      Remember what the headlines said

      Hide your head

      Stay in bed

      Or you'll see dread

        Gloria Gaynor (I Will Survive)

        "First I was afraid

        I was petrified............

Rushed right up too--ward the counter

        but the machine had died........

And I spent so many nights

thinking how you did me wrong

        I grew strong

I knew you'd come back on.......

        Now you're back

        Online again.....

I just walked in to find you here

with that greedy look upon your face

        I should've known you'd break again

I should've stayed at home today

If I had known for just one second

        that you refused to pay!!!.................

        Great fun thread,as always,Coin Toss!

          Great stuff everyone!

Remember They're Coming To Take Me Away?

Remember when you laughed and said

my system was a lot of work

and that I'd probably never hit!

Well I tracked and tracked both day and night

and then when things looked exactly right

          I filled out my playslip

but the machine would not take it!

And wouldn't you know the time cut off

I wathced the draw and there they were

the numbers that would have been on that ticket!

Well, they're coming to take me away, ha ha

They're coming to take me away, tee hee

to the funny farm where life is beautiful all the time

they're coming to take me away!

Hysterical, lottolaughs!!  Thanks for the chuckle.  The words fit right in with the melody.  Now, how do I get the darn tune out of my head?

(Coin Toss, the song you mentioned is my theme song!)    Crazy

BTW, a little song trivia....did you know that only one year at the Grammy Awards there was a category for best disco song?  It was sometime in the 80s and Gloria Gaynor won for "I will survive."  I haven't looked it up yet, but I clearly remember hearing that on the radio one day. Just FYI in case someone here ever goes on Jeopardy.  LOL  Ya never know.
