I've been studying a little bit, thanks to Rick G.  However, I still don't know much.  I found a good website that helped a little, and some good beginner's tips.

http://www.drf.com/row/fan_ed/winning-techniques-2004.pdf

This was really good for me, the beginner.  I'd be interested in knowing any other great websites that would help me in this new interest.

A good buddy of mine just moved to Arizona to study "racetrack management" at the University of Phoenix.  I never knew there was such a thing.

Looking forward to seeing more of your posts Rick G!

Keep it simple

    Surge,

You are at the right spot with drf.com.  It's a great hobby.  I also use brisnet.com every day.  The computer age has made this sport a whole lot easier to handicap and I am finding brisnet a big time-saver for quantifying rankings.

Equibase.com and NTRA.com are also good sites for information and news.

Also, check out brisnet's free race of the day past performances.  The Kentucky Derby Package contest ends tomorrow but there will be a new contest for a Package deal for the 2007 Breeder's Cup coming up after the Derby.

Keep your eyes peeled and jump in when it starts...the more picks you make, the more entries you have into the contest.

A Bob Baffert entry 8th Race  #5 INTO REALITY (ESPINOZA VICTOR) chalky selection @2/1 Morning odds but perhaps useful key in a exotic.

            Eddessaknight, good pick!

Did you catch the Bluegrass yesterday?  What a race!

Today I'm playing a potential price horse in the Grade 3 Shakertown Stakes in Keeneland's 8th race.

                      5/15

Pace prediction for 5th race at Prairie today.

Today's Brisnet Race of the Day looks like a classic pace set-up of two Early runners dueling and keeping the pace honest for pace Presser types.

It is a six furlong race and there are only six horses running.  It appears that # 5 Cyanide and # 2 Miss Wagon Load will be vying for the lead for the first quarter mile with # 6 Tejano's Oasis sitting in third.  On the turn Tejano's Oasis and # 4 Silent Singer will be moving forward and passing the front runners at the top of the stretch with Tejano's Oasis hanging on to his lead to the wire and Silent Singer making a bid in the stretch and just missing, holding second place as best of the rest.   # 1 Here'soneforjimmy will be running late in the stretch and will capture third place.

                      Pick:  6-4-1

Eddessa, you must have misprinted your original selection for the 5th race.  You had # 8 to win.  Great pick on the #4 in the 6th.  Must have gone off at real decent odds.

                            Today (5/17) Churchill7th race I'm going with # 4  Chatham (5/1).

                            Good luck!

...forgot to follow up on this post.  I was wrong with the pace prediction...# 6 Tejano's Oasis won it in wire-to-wire fashion, # 4 Silent Singer placed and #1 was scratched.
