Hi All, I am a new member and already enjoying the site by reading past posts.  I look forward to learning much from you and hope I will one day also be able to contribute meaningfully.  I have been looking at different lottery software and wondered if there are any programs you have found helpful in studying lottery numbers.  So far I have downloaded trial offers of Lotto Buster, Versabet and P34 Lotto.  The Lotto Buster seems user friendly for a novice like myself.  The other two were like Greek.  Also any books you have found helpful?

 Thanks in advance.

Dump all your software, and do the hardcore statisics of the state you plan on playing in. Sometimes software is good for the actual statistics, but as far as the stategy is concerned you won't get anything off it.

        Hi tben,

I have VersaBet (VB34) and P34 Lotto. Really, when you get familiar with VB34 it is a very good "tool".  The thing is, you have to first get a handle on the statistics for your state's Pick 3 or Pick 4 game.  Software is useful as a tool to help you with your number-picking decisions. When it comes to making predictions of the next draw, the software is pretty useless. If you're interested in the P3 or P4, remember you will lose a lot more days than you will win.  That's the nature of it. So it doesn't hurt to keep a notebook to see where you are profit/loss wise. There are a lot of systems/methods posted on the forums here that are better at hitting winners than any software I've ever used.

In the end, the way I see it, is that you just have to guess right, unless you have no budget and can throw all your money at it.  But to me, that is the "shotgun approach", and it will put you in the red, when the idea is to end the year in the black. So money management is half the story.

Thanks Badger for your advise and also thanks to Megatron and Kayee.  I will try VersaBet again with a little more energy.  I'm only looking for software that will help me study the numbers.  I really liked the Degrees of Certainly discussion I read on this site.  I don't expect to find software that will predict winning numbers.  I just want to improve my odds.  I have been buying 5 Florida Fantasy 5 QP #'s daily for about three months and a friend and I split the cost.  We have won a little over $1,000 having hit 4 out of 5 three times (and once there was no winner of the jackpot so we got $800) and once hit back to back.  I want to focus on the Pick 4 which has more reasonable odds but enough of a potential payoff to make it worth taking the chance.

Again, thanks.  It is good to be able to talk to folks about this.

                Welcome Tben ...

I use LottoBuster too once in a while to view past trends and frequency. It's a useful tool. I have never hit a number exact using it ..and the box hits have been too far and few in between.

The really best way to pick your numbers is to find past patterns and use that info to try and pick your numbers.

What I've done was get a few sheets of graph paper and make a row of numbers on top from 1-31 ( for days of the month), then, on the left side of that sheet, make a column from 0 through 9, 3 or 4 times above each other depending if you want to play 3 or the 4 number game. Label this first sheet 'PICK 3 (or 4) - APRIL' and then go and put an X in each of the corresponding graph boxes. It's best if you go back about 2 months...so you may want to start with February and just go through and start filling in the boxes. After a while, you will start to see a pattern developing. Yes, I know it will take a little time to make these sheets, but its worth it ... and your lottery has all the past winning numbers that you can download and just plug in the x's from that. Will only take like 1 hour to make 3 sheets(Feb. , March and this month of April. See Chart below for example chart.

You just need your states past numbers, both regular and red pencil and graph paper, maybe a ruler if you want to underline your rows/columns. No calculator needed! :)

Example: Lets say your last nights pick4 number was 9022, you would then look at the 9 in your 1st grouping. Now go backwards and see when the last 9 came out and what number came after it. Do this for as many sheets as you have created(the more, the better for greater accuracy). See how many times that #9 has come out with similar numbers after it ,and yes, even before it, so spot a trend. On days where you just dont feel it, dont play, but when you see a hot pattern, play it heavy... even play 1 # above and 1 below it just in case you are only 1 number off. This system is great for picking straights if you see a hot trend. I've hit a few times playing boxed... so it does work. a box play at 1 dollar pays cool $200 in FL.... money is money!

I started doing this as of 3 weeks ago... seems VERY effective so far.

                Well .. GL and welcome!

Thanks so much, Omniscient,  for taking time to provide so much helpful information.  I will be looking at your post regarding charts and patterns more closely.  I have become a little more profficient with LottoBuster as I have experimented with the trial version.  I will purchase it, since there is a "special" and it only costs I think $23.

What I am doing so far is looking at statistics on hit frequency and last hit (which I guess is also called skips).  I have a very limited understanding of probability - essentially the 50/50 chance of getting heads on a coin toss after many trials - so I am looking at playing Play 4 with the 4 numbers that have the lowest % of hits in the last 10-20 games.  I have looked at how the hit frequency varies from 5 games to 10, 20, 30 50, etc. games.  It looks like the variability reduces pretty quickly between 10 and 20 games, so that numbers with low hit frequency at 10 games makes significant moves toward the average by 15 to 20 games.  I'm sure this seems elementary to many people here, but I do find it satisfying since it fits my limited understanding of probability, and therefore seems logical.

What this does not help with is doubles which so far I can't draw a bead on.  And it leaves no room for the "hot" numbers which have a high hit frequency but continue to hit.  Anyhow it's interesting and I'm learning.

                  Thanks again,

                  tben

For doubles you might want to research "Double Trigger":

With the chart I posted, if following a pattern, can produce a double as well. It's basically a Trend chart. Just follow it to see the numbers that came before and after that last number in the 1st, 2nd or 3rd positions (and 4th if playing 4 number game)

I'm going to be daring and post my picks for tonight for FL using the charts I have now.

As last nights number was 8545, I looked at past patterns that came before the 8,5,4 and 5 and came up with 3 solid picks for the last 3 numbers, but the 1st one I am a bit unsure of... its kinda in limbo... so... my last 3 #'s were x130

So Im going to do the best thing to remedy this... play 0-9 for the 1st position giving me my 10 numbers for tonight.

                      0130,1130,2130,3130,4130,5130,6130,7130,8130,and 9130

Playing these tonight for 1 dollar each Straight/Box ... if I get it exact, I make 2600, if boxed, 200 dollars ..still a sweet profit for 10 dollars.

                      Good luck all!
