What are some things other people have told you about lotto that let you know you were dealing with a real BS artist?

(And describe how you react, or don't, if you want to).

Here's a few things people have told me:

"I won $36.11 on a scratcher"

"I play XXX boxed and hit it 26 times in one year"
(Hello, going to the website for the state he plays in showed the number drawn only twice in that year. You especially have tp appreciate this one as the guy who said this managed a convenience store and is abbsolutely cluelsss about payoffs. )

"We like to stop at such-and-such a place on the border (Illinois-Missouri) because you can buy Mega Millions and Powerball ticekts at the same place"
(Hello, no, you can't)

"I won $63 on Little Lotto last night (one ticket).
No, you didn't, the payoff structure is $1, $10, $100 and Jackpot.

Those are just a few. Sometimes I'll tell someone like that there is no such payoff, or even show them the back of a playslip if I have one.

Whether I spek up or not, from then on when such a person talks abour lotto I figure they are just a baloney slinger.

I'm sure otheres here have had such encounters. Want to share them? Please do.

Those who run the lotteries love it when players look for consistency in something that's designed not to have any.

There is one and only one 'proven' system, and that is to book the action. No matter the game, let the players pick their own losers.

How about 'I had all 5 white balls written on a ticket, and changed them to something else'.....

Oh wait, that's me, and it's not BS, and on top of that - I've done it TWICE.

Beyond that, I enjoy listening to folks tell me how much they won at the Casino or at Keno, because I never hear a word about how much they LOSE when they go...

I haven't done that but I have had something similar where all that numbers that have come up made more sense to my life more so than the numbers I've played.

like a week after my mother died....  her date came up day and month mine date and month my son's birthday day and my mothers date of death in one number 6 5 9 10 14 38 and it was a huge mega millions jack pot 158 million or something ..... I had played 5 9 14 I think so I won 7 dollars  but not the 6 10 and 38  but then again if I had played her death date I pry would have played 3 and 8 and not 38

since then I've skating around the winning numbers in megamillions when I was in Michigan and then up in Canada on super 7 and 6/49  and keep winning small amounts consistantly above the norm about 25 to 50 a month or more and I really don't spend alot of lottery just a few bucks unless it's big then I will spend 15 on tickets. I keep thinkng that I will win big when the time is right. I don't really think I need to buy alot I am not really much into gambling for gamblings sake.

I just wanna win a huge Jackpot so some things will come alot quicker. I don't even bother if the lottery is under 10 million as the payout for 10 Million is the amount I would need to really do what I dream of doing with a lottery win. The houses I want to build on our property would cost roughly 1.5 Million to 2.5 million 3 Earthship houses One Big Main House Earthship Mountian Castle and two smaller guest houses with aviaries and a series of dome greenhouses for winter food production... Additional land around our property maybe another Million to 3 Million depending on which propeties were purchased. Making us off the grid 250,000...  3 Hybred Vehicles 90 to 150k then the rest invested to live off of and just concentrate on permaculture, art, and music. I've already priced everything and know how much I need to either earn myself or win in the lottery to do all of this. I can earn this amount just will take longer than a lottery win lol

Maybe it's like going to a Casino:

If you take $100 and go to the casino, and you come home with anything more than zero, folks somehow call that 'coming out ahead'.

A relative of mine who knows that I play the lottery was visiting one day last week.  He said that one of his co-workers won $2400 on Powerball.  So I kept on listening to him talk and right as he got ready to end the conversation.  I responded by saying are you sure the game he was playing was Powerball because that prize is not in Powerballs prize structure.  He looked at me funny and I said don't you mean Oregon Megabucks is the game he was playing.  He looked at me briefly and went into the next room to talk with his wife.-weshar75

It amazes me how people will just makes up 'facts' instead of admitting they don't know something.

People who do that rarely ever stop to think that they might be talking to someone who actually knows a little bit about the subject they are talking about.

Sometimes it's funny to let them dig themselves in deeper and deeper and deeper.
