Maybe this is an odd question but as I was driving home today it popped into my head. Why do I want to win? Is it really for the money? Or because of some other lack in my life?

We have all been lucky and unlucky in various ways. I've been lucky with the necessities of life but as far as personal satisfaction? Yikes! there's room for improvement, as I'm sure with all of you. Maybe I'm odd but for me, I would just be happy to win AT something, it doesn't have to be the lottery but since that is one of my main passions, I tend to focus on it more then other things at the moment.

What about some of you folks? Is winning money the only objective? Or would just winning "at something" fill some sort of emptiness in your heart?

Thanks to all.

I guess for the money, I've gotten tastes of the apple and I would like a whole apple.

But you know what, I found a a place with a bunch of great people that also want the apple and are willing to share the knowledge with others to get that tasty fruit. Because of this place I've gotten more tastes of the apple in the past year than I would have ever on my own.

I thank everybody here for your kindness, generosity, and time you spend to give insight to this forum. I hope all of us eventually get a bushel of apples.

      Thanks lottolaughs for the thread.

I don't want to win to fill an emptiness in my heart, just an emptiness in my pocketbook.  I look at money and love or success as entirely different things. You can be successful at many things and still be poor.  I don't look at the lottery as a challenge, because I feel it's all luck.  Look at all the idiots we read about who win millions.

Many threads on LP try to find some spiritual, moral (or immoral) reasons people want money.  It is what it is..m-o-n-e-y.  No more, no less..at least to me.  It BUYS nice things.  It lets you make CHOICES.  You don't have to put up with a BOSS.  You don't have to accept INFERIOR medical care.  You don't have to WAIT for a sale if you really want something.  You can GIVE freely without worrying about your own needs.  To me, wanting money has nothing to do with lack of passion or success.  If you're already good at something (i.e., music or art) or have found your true love when you're poor, being rich will only make life a little easier.

The extra money is very nice.  Challenging myself is also very nice.  Both.

love to nibble those micey feet.

Just thought i would note this place right here right now is just a step away from your next choice.  This life is not just to use resources and just try to be as happy as you can there is more, alot more.  You will find that answer after you leave.  It is your choice, choose your destination or have it chosen for you.  God Bless everyone.  DLD

I enjoy both the challenge of picking(predicting) the winning numbers and the chance to win a jackpot if I play them and I'm right.

Some may say there is no challenge because winning lottery numbers are the results of several random events during a drawing and picking(predicting) them is a matter luck and nothing else.

When I post my predictions on the prediction board, I hope they win even if I don't play because like other LP members who do the same I'm posting for bragging rights and personal satisfaction, it's nice to be on the winners list even if I'm not winning any real money.

I play some of the games I predict but let face it, if anyone played all the predictions they posted, chances are good they would lose even more money, the Predictors list proves that.  The prediction board allows every LP member to enjoy the challenge of trying to pick(predict) winning lottery numbers at no cost and validate their wins not with winning tickets but with the winners list.

                     * you don't need to buy more tickets, just buy a winning ticket *

The lure of the lottery is $$$$$$$$$$$$ no doubt.

The $$$$$$$$$$$$ would definitley free you up to do more things and enjoy more of life, be charitable, and many other things, but the lure is $$$$$$$$$$$$$.

Lotteries (and casinos) know this,  and they are in the business of capitalizing on people's greed (an thei egos) just as much as they are in the gaming and entertainment business.

Those who run the lotteries love it when players look for consistency in something that's designed not to have any.

                          Lep

There is one and only one 'proven' system, and that is to book the action. No matter the game, let the players pick their own losers.
