I remember going to the Arlington Million when it debuted in 1982 (?).  My wife and I used to go every year.  Those were the days of John Henry.  You older folks will remember that workhorse.

As usual the race has attracted some foreign competition and that makes it difficult to handicap them because of lack of running lines, speed and pace figs.  But it looks fairly safe to eliminate them from the top two spots.  That leaves the favorite # 4 After Market (2/1) who looks very strong and the money shot #1 Jambalaya (10/1) who will be flying late.  After Market has been racing on the west coast turf which is a lot firmer than the current sparingly-used Arlington turf surface which has had its fair share of rain recently.

I'm going with Sunriver to win for a few reasons.   For one thing, the pace fits him like a glove and he should be able to dictate it with this field.  His only two turf starts have been the last two, he hasn't been headed yet and has finished at par rating for winners at today's distance and surface.  A big huge plus is that he has this year's trainer of the year (IMHO) Todd Pletcher who has prepped him for this race and Garrett Gomez piloting him again.  Gomez is winning at a 31% clip for Pletcher the last 60 days.

Because of the possible odds on Jambalaya, I like a three horse exacta box on this race,  2-4-1.

Again, good luck and good racing!

        Rick,

I pretty much agree with your synopsis of how the race shapes up, but I'm going to go with

      # 4 AFTER MARKET, on top of SUNRIVER, TINMAN, and JAMBALAYA.

      KEY # 4 with/ 1,2,5.

Good luck and good racing to you also...!

Maddog, I always like it when you chime in...you've proven you're ability in the past.

           Thanks Rick,

Yourself, edessaknight, and britt are doing real good with plenty of ability also. Good luck to all today.!

Since # 4 has been scratched, I'll be going with # 2 on top of  the  1 and 5.....!

            Good luck Rick

Thank's Maddog and good luck with the Maddog Powerball Challenge! Bye the bye, in Nevada we are not permited lottery (the casinos are afraid of losing those $1 bets that would be ordinarily deposited in slots Smile

Going out to California Lottery today, any recommendations?

            Thanks in advance-

Just6, Jambalaya won paying $17 something, Tinman placed and I forget who showed but it wasn't Sunriver.
