Let's face it.... we all like to catch a quad now and then!!  The payout is pretty sweet.  I've been looking at quads recently to determine if there is some sort of pattern to their "fall-hood" lol  As most of you know, there are 90 quads (boxed).  Let's take a look at the various classifications of quads, as it makes it a little easier to break them down and track skips and patters:

THE EVEN QUAD:  There are 20 of these bad boys.....  ex.  0002, 0004, 0006....etc.

THE ODD QUAD (Hey, that rhymes!)  Also 20..... ex. 1113, 1115, 1117....etc.

The OOOE and EEEO QUADS:  Pretty much makes up the rest of them.... 50 in all.

Now here lies the patterns.... by breaking down the later set even further to what I call the "series" quads, there appears to be a very strong relationship among these.  First let me explain what I mean by series quads.... "How can you get a series number from a quad" you ask?  Quite simply a one up or one down from the triple number.  For example... 4445 5556 6667...etc.  There are also 20 of these triples.

Now looking back over the past year...all states... I've discovered a pattern that is really cool, but first let me explain the "anatomy" of the series quad.  Looking at a given series quad (e.g. 3334) take the mate, and one up (or one down) of that number.  So for 3334, the mate is 3444.  The one down for this number would be 3332.

That being said (you still with me??!!!), looking back at the past year, when a series triple falls, VERY shortly, either the number repeats, or you see either the mate or the one up (one down) number.

Let me give some recent examples:

(one up)

(one down)

(Repeat - duh!)

(Mate)

This post wound up being MUCH more involved than I had anticipated, but I hope you get the idea.  There are countless examples that have occurred during the past year.  If you have a Gold or Platinum Membership, you can search for other examples.  Well, I hope this helps someone catch a trip.... best of luck to everyone!!!!

I just wanted to clarify something about my post.. it was brought to my attention (thank you so much, R) that I totally screwed up this post.  I mistakenly used the word "quad" when I really meant triple!!!    So if you haven't figured it out by the numbers I used in my examples, please substitute the work quad for triple.  It seems I used the word triple is some cases, so the Percoset at least is beginning to wear off!!     Sorry for any confusion.  You'd think I know the difference between a quad and a triple!  Go figure!

Good luck to all!

Calabs.  Trips in pick 4s are called "false quads."  You just left out the word "false." Good post.  Keep it up.

Calabs

Based on your observation/theory  do we look for 9990,9998,4443,4445,7778 or 7776 in some state today. based on yesterdays hits?

I'm so sorry Ms. Pat if I've cause confusion with this post.  :(  This thread really has nothing to do with quads!!!  lol  If you take a look at my first post, and substitute quad for triple, it may make it a little clearer.  So, when a "series" triple ( I DID say triple right!  :) ), look for either a repeat of that number, the one up or one down of that number, or the mate of that number.  The examples in my first post should make it more understandable.  Hope this helps!!  Best of luck to you!

Thanks calabs for the clarification. First of all it applies to a series triple right? like 7778 the 78 as a pair or 8889 the 89 come as a pair. When this happens you go up or down one digit on the triple itself. that is the digit you put with the triple correct? for instance down one on the 8 is 7 so the number is 8887  up one on the 8 is 9 so it is 8889 etc or you take the mate 7778 go down one on the digit 7 which is 6 and the number is 7767 which is still a series triple. Is this correct?

Ms. Pat (So we can use last nights results because the 9999 and the 7747 were not series "triples")

OK -  Since I messed up on this thread royally, I'm going to give the detailed version of what to look for.  There are 20 "series" triples.  I will give the triple, then the numbers to look for after that triple:

0001:  Look for 0001 1110 0002 0009

0111:  Look for 0111 0001 1112 1119

1112:  Look for 1112 2221 1113 1110

1222:  Look for 1222 1112 2223 2220

2223:  Look for 2223 3332 2224 2221

2333:  Look for 2333 2223 3334 3331

3334:  Look for 3334 4443 3335 3332

3444:  Look for 3444 3334 4445 4442

4445:  Look for 4445 5554 4446 4443

4555:  Look for 4555 4445 5556 5553

5556:  Look for 5556 6665 5557 5554

5666:  Look for 5666 5556 6667 6664

6667:  Look for 6667 7776 6668 6665

6777:  Look for 6777 6667 7778 7775

You're right Ms. Pat... yesterday's numbers (7747 and 9999) were not series triples, so they don't really apply.  Please see my most recent post.  It give you all the series triples, and the followers to look for.... that should make it a little easier!! lol

Best of luck to you Ms. Pat, and thanks for posting!

7888:  Look for 7888 7778 8889

8889:  Look for 8889 9998 8887

8999:  Look for 8999 8889 9990

9000:  Look for 9000 9990 0001

0999:  Look for 0999 0009 9998

One less number/string....Again I apologize for any confusion!
