I just spoke with a fellow at a Hess station today who was trying explain a system he uses and gets guarantee wins every 3rd or 4th night.

ROULETTE WHEEL STYLE

 Here's what he said:

Plays a range of 250 #s. Example (250 to 500) @ .50 STR play each for a maximum bet of $125.

If he doesn't win that night, he will double up the proceeding nights and claims to usually hit within 4 times.

I did the math and came up with the following:

Day#s playedBet Per #Day Bet AmountRunning BET AMOUNTPrizeNet Won
1250$0.50$125.00$125.00$250.00$125.00
2250$2.00$500.00$625.00$1,000.00$375.00
3250$4.00$1,000.00$1,500.00$2,000.00$500.00
4250$8.00$2,000.00$3,000.00$4,000.00$1,000.00

I don't think I would have the stomach for this type of betting.

But supposedly another man in the store claims the guy is back every 3rd or 4th day cashing in several .50cent Str tickets.

This is just an observation...I wouldn't recommend this for anyone as the risk of losing money after the 4th or 5th night is much too great.

Just thought I share

I am more interested in what you say.  Are you saying he plays 250, 251, and so on?

This is a common way of betting at casinos and people usually walk away with nothing.  I was told to do this many years ago when I used to play roulette.  It didn't work.  What he is proposing is spending $125 to start, which is what many people don't play in a month.  That's a lot for pick-3.   So then you lose it and are supposed to double your bet to make up for the loss and so on and so on.  But what if on the 5th night you still haven't won? I just don't know anyone who bets on 250 combinations.  What he is saying is to bet $2,000 on day 4 and play $8 per number.  Assuming it's straight and will win $500 for 8 plays which would be $4,000,  that $1,000 win would be nice, but not a guarantee by a long shot. The odds in FL for pick-3 played straight are 1:1,000.   Just because you bet 250 plays a day doesn't mean that all 1,000 combinations will be drawn in 4 days.  There are some combinations that don't hit for weeks.

Exactly - and if he doesn't win on the 4th day?

I'd put this somewhere between gamblers are liars and only a whack job with that kind of money would risk it on lotto.

Double-up systems are known as "Martingales" and only lead to the "gambler's ruin problem". The house limit exists to make sure a Martingale system can't prove itself, even if someone was crazy enough to try it. In casino games, when people double up, double up, when they do win, the wn a net 1 unit. Whoopee.

With lotto granted the payoffs are much greater, but also few and far between, too.

And as we've learned here on LP, states do have a pay-out ceiling on Pick3 and 4- so let's say that the day Mr Got Rocks system calls for him to bet $4,000 or $8,000 on those 250 numbers, one of them hits- but he was shut out of playing it.

So what's he do now? Bet $16,000 the next night?

When you hear a story like this ask the person telling it how they enjopyed the 1994 World Series.

Then,  whenever anyone says "system" + "guarantee" + "win" run Forrest, run!

Those who run the lotteries love it when players look for consistency in something that's designed not to have any.

        Lep

There is one and only one 'proven' system, and that is to book the action. No matter the game, let the players pick their own losers.

If that guy played 512 at the Hess today, find out what his next number will be and let us know.
