I was trying to figure out if there's any rhyme or reason to why some MA lottery drawings are televised and others aren't, and according to the lottery web site, "The Massachusetts State Lottery offers five games that require manual drawings:
The Daily Numbers Game, Megabucks, Cash Winfall, Mass Cash, Mega Millions. With the exception of Mega Millions, all drawings are conducted in a secure studio at WCVB Channel 5 in Boston."
The WCVB Channel 5 logo still appears on lottery promo materials, and they still talk about "The Lottery Live on Five," but for a lot of drawings, they just show the winning numbers (already sorted low to high) on the screen instead of showing the actual ball machine. Now, I understand that TV time is precious so it doesn't make a lot of sense to show the drawing of a less-popular game like Mass Cash and a full drawing of Mega Millions 10 minutes apart, but they've got a whole web site, and web site video is CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP!!!
They're always trying to get people to go to the web site anyway, so we need to let the station management know that if they show the drawing videos on the web site, we'll watch! And any serious lottery player will watch! Heck, even if they pad it with 30 seconds of ads between each ball, I'd still watch! (ok, maybe that's a bit much, but you get the idea)
So email newsmanagement@thebostonchannel.com and let them know you want to see the drawings, even if they're just on the web site!
P.S. It's been a long time since my last post, but it feels good to be back!
