Thanks everyone for your input yesterday!
A very clear majority of you said that you were supportive of removing the Mood and Now Playing inputs, so that's what I'm going to do.
To those who voted to keep them, please believe me when I say that I agree with you, in that I like the concept myself. After all, I came up with the idea of putting them in there originally!
I look at them every time I look at a standard blog entry, and I find it interesting to read the author's mood, and even more interesting to read what they have playing in the background. Little details like that are revealing and personal, and definitely add to the blog.
The main problem is that people generally skip them, and get right to writing the blog. Plus they aren't supported in the premium blogs, so even if you enter something, the premium blog doesn't show it.
Maybe what this tells us (no matter how you voted in the poll) is that adding some personal details to your blog entry would help everyone understand you better, and where you're coming from.
If you are one of the ones who commonly adds the Mood and/or Now Playing information to your blog, by all means continue to do so as part of your blog entries, in the body text. Add other things too, if there is something else that would convey your experience. Be creative in whatever way suits you.
In a way I'll be sad to see them go, but I think it's the right thing.
Thanks again to everyone who participated.
