For people who use the Search page for searching private messages, searching has just gotten better.
Searches now ignore hidden formatting tags when conducting the search, in order to eliminate false matches. For example, if you were searching for private messages with the word "table" in them, it would previously find a match on a message that contained an HTML <table> tag (which is used to create a grid-like table inside a message). So you'd see a message returned, and the word "table" would not appear anywhere in the visible message.
Searches are speedier when searching Private Messages. I improved the way the searches are conducted, and changed the indexing structures.
Last, I added Sent Items to the searched content for Gold and Platinum members. (Only Gold and Platinum members have a Sent Items folder, which saves all of their sent private messages, so that's why searching Sent Items is only available to them.)
Previously, the Search page only searched the Inbox and any private folders the member had setup. Now the Sent Items are searched in additional to all the previous search locations. (Private folders are another feature for Gold and Platinum members, which allows them to save and organize their private messages.)
A checkbox was added to optionally revert to the previous functionality, by ignoring Sent Items in the search. (The checkbox only appears for Gold and Platinum members.)
