Lottery officials said the winning ticket from Tuesday night's Mega Millions lottery drawing — worth $125 million — was sold in New Jersey.
It was not immediately known what town in New Jersey the winning ticket was sold.
In addition to the grand prize winner, eight tickets matched all five numbers but not the Mega Ball number: 3 from California, 1 from Georgia, 1 from Maryland, 1 from New York, 1 from Texas, and 1 from Virginia.
Each second prize ticket is worth $250,000, except the California tickets, which are worth $222,267 each. California uses a pari-mutuel payout system, unlike the other eleven Mega Millions states, which use fixed prize amounts for each non-jackpot prize.
Another 53 tickets matched four numbers, plus the Mega Ball number for a third prize worth $10,000. Seven of those third prize tickets were sold in California, and are worth $9,803 each.
Do you know if it was a QP? I'm happy for the winner(s) and hope there was a group who won all that money. 10 people would be nice.
I can't even get 5 numbers in the Florida 5/36 game, so I can't imagine the excitement the winner must feel. Imagine signing onto LP and seeing your numbers on your computer screen. I think I'd pass out.
Can you explain what you mean a little more? White balls were 02-16-23-29-32, so I'm seeing 3 low and 2 high.
I guess they weren't all technically low numbers, but since the set was all under 32, I feel it was a low number set. I guess I can't really explain it that well.
it wasn't me - i'm by the gold coast, nj! but it's all over our local news [we live for this kind of news] - "Lottery officials say a single winning ticket for Tuesday night's $126 million Mega Millions drawing was sold at Newark's AJ Seabra Supermarkets XII in Essex County" -- so someone in THE BRICKS or BRICK CITY has won -- hopefully it was someone deserving and good! my only thoughts were 'please don't let it be a knucklehead, please don't let it be a knucklehead'
AH-HAH! NJ is on a roll! They must be stopped! lol Just kidding. My Wa. has only had 2 MM jackpot wins in 6 years. Hoping its our turn soon........for meeee!!!!!! When they say "single ticket" do they mean like a $1.00 purchase? That gives hope to all that you don't have to drop lots of $$$$$$ to hit. Hope it was a nice person who won. We're starting from scratch again........hope the pot grows and grows again!

Come to think of it, Todd, do you use a "system" or is your system QP's???????????
I do both. I really like to use this wheel for Mega Millions. It has 46 lines, so I can play every Mega Ball, and it uses 56 numbers, so I can play every number. I Quick Pick the numbers into their positions. (Which is a feature of the Lottery Post wheels page.)

A "single ticket" means only that particular ticket had the winning numbers. Whether there were 20 lines of numbers on that tickets or not. Moreso, it means that the jackpot won't be split. It's possible for more than one person to have those same winning numbers. The jackpot would be split equally between those ticket holders.

"Hope it was a nice person who won."
Aww, mean @#$%^&s need money, too.
Although this isn't the same thing, your post reminds me of a conversation I had a few days ago. A neighbor won $330 playing pick 3 and you'd think she won $10M. I'm happy for her, except her attitude about others, especially people with money, really stinks. A local man (don't know him) won the Gas For Life prize which is equal to $52,000 before tax. She said irratably, "He needs the money like I need a hole in the head." I responded, "He bought a ticket like everyone else." Suddenly there was a moment of silence & a dirty look.
I heard the winning ticket was sold at a store in Newark. Nothing since then. I haven't been to Newark in years. The reason some States have more winners is simply there are more people playing more tickets. They are often sold in or near populated areas like Newark or Cleveland. Since most people play QP on big jackpots and most people playing big jackpots aren't System players, it's more likely the winner was a QP.
Money is a relative thing.. it represents your relative share of the world's goods and services that you can demand. The Government can print out as much cash as it wants but it doesn't produce goods and services. That's the flaw of the Stimulus, that everyone got the same thing so the prices may go up to meet the increased overall demand. When one person wins $330 and not everyone else does, that person gains an advantage.
I had been hoping the next morning (before I heard "Newark") to see a News van parked in front of Stop&Shop but no such sighting occurred.
Instead of needing a hole in the head, we need a little hole up in ANWR and other places that will give everyone a "Gas For LIFE" benefit.
All low numbers for the five white balls. Congrats to the winner!

You can come clean, Todd, I know it was you!!!
I wish.

When I saw the numbers that were drawn last night (02-16-23-29-32/46): I said to myself: The MM Jackpot Got Hit Last Night!
So did I and alas, it was.

Hope that helps.
Wow! A single winner for $126 million! WTG!
