Does anyone watch this TV show? I think it is one of the greatest on TV right now. In it, one of the characters stranded on The Island is Hurley, and he played a set of numbers for a (presumedly) multi state lottery that had "a sixteen week rollover" and won $116 million (presumedly after cash and taxes) The numbers were: 4, 8, 15,16, 23 and 42 (I believe 42 was the mega/power ball). He got them from time he spent in a mental hospital when a catatonic fellow patient kept repeating them. The freaky thing is, when he then got stranded on The Island, the numbers appeared all over in almost every occurrance and place. Even on one of the underground metallic hatches the numbers were there, in order. And inside that hatch was a computer that required you to input those exact numbers, in order, every 108 minutes.

Does anyone know the significance of those numbers?

Yeah, I remember when the show came out (I didn't start watching it right away) it was a huge hit. Everyone was talking about the lottery numbers by the time the first season was over (this was back in 2004/2005 I believe). And my friend's girlfriend kept playing them. I was like "are you freaking crazy?" because thousands and thousands of people must have been using that combination in both MM and PB so if they did hit, she'd get 1/5000 of a jackpot or something.

Yeah, I never played those numbers when the show first started. I knew a lot of people were playing them. I'm sure it has died down a bit, but I think there are probably quite a few people who will continue playing them.

Interesting. It would be crazy if the numbers hit provided from the show, then the show might continue with more series using other numbers. Yes, I do think the prize would not be great if everyone play, there are over millions of viewers...

I just realized the sum of those lottery numbers equals 108 (as in the number of minutes you had to push the button on the computer) LOL

I'm going to be watching more of it tonight, in preparation for season five. I was thinking maybe not use those numbers exactly, but perhaps derivatives...
