How great are my odds of matching two numbers better than matching 3 numbers from the same pool of numbers.

It will be greater. How much greater? Depending on how many numbers are in the pool.

In a 5/50 lottery, the odds of matching:

2 numbers = 1/14.93

3 numbers = 1/214.02

In a 6/42 lottery, the odds of matching:

2 numbers = 1/5.94

3 numbers = 1/36.74

The above are just examples, it depends on

- how many balls are in the lottery

- how many numbers are drawn.
