      I speak often of my affinity for birds, and lately bird on the wire has been consistently 2's and occasionally 1's.

      Last night I walked out of my little house in the country and there sitting on the only wire that moves from the house to the pole across the way was a very tiny screech owl.   Screeching like a banshee, I might add.

     I know, I know.  Owls mean death and destruction and misfortune, all borne of myths that swirl around the owl's nocturnal nature and the fact that in ancient and not-so-ancient times, darkness is associated with bad things.

      I'm not buying it.  I will admit I do not like to hear the hoo, hoo, of the owl in the still of night because it is unnerving.  But the screech of a baby ball of fluff (with a very sharp beak and talons, of course)?  Nah.   Birds are always good luck for me and this one is no different.  This is a special occasion because it is the very first screech owl I've been blessed to observe. 

      I see that 788 I've looked for so faithfully here in DE has found GA - now that's good luck, me thinks!

  Yesterday Delaware's tempature was 106 degrees and the cash 4 number was 0160.  How about that!!

  marcie, on July 22 Maryland and Virginia had 160.
