I've been wondering for a little while some specifics about NY Lotto retailers. Mainly I'm wondering, what % of the ticket cost do they keep, or is it nothing? I've been searching around google for awhile looking but can't seem to find any info at all. Also, what would be the initial investment in the sense of equipment. I used to frequent a cigar store that was also the biggest lotto seller in my previous area, and would like to start a similar type of business in the future. You'd be in there for 30 minutes and literally watch the loads of people come in, they'd sell hundreds of tickets in that time it seemed. I'd do it mainly for the love of cigars, but it seems hard to survive on that alone since I've yet to be to a cigar-only store. Lotto and cigars seem to supplement each other. Basically I'm just wondering what the initial cost would be, and what percent of the cost of tickets retailers end up with? The only reason I'm thinking they might not get anything is because Lotto would draw people in to buy their other products? Any input is appreciated.
