I copied and pasted some Keno numbers from the MI lottery website.  I don't want a graph or anything fancy like that, I just want the numbers organized so I can easily see which numbers show up the most.  The problem is that when I use any of the list functions, it only organizes them by the first collumn down.  In other words, it treats each set of numbers as an individual number (there are spaces between the numbers just so ya know).

I think it has something to with each set of numbers taking up an entire cell as opposed to each number being in a different cell in the same row.   I even tried putting collums in but it would only adjust the ones outside of the number grid.  I am new at excel so this is pretty confusing to me, but I would think a simple number organization wouldn't be so hard.  There's gotta be something I'm missing here...

not sure if that is what you want.

if you had each number in a different cell you could use the count if function to count the number of occurances of each number.

counting the numbers when combined can be done but not easy

      Get rid of the spaces...

If the spaces are within the cell, Excel does not see the contents of the cell as a number but rather as a label. Each number must be in its own individual cell with no spaces.

If there are blank cells within a column, some functions will not work. In either case, the spaces are what may be causing your problem.

I guess it's just a matter of trying to put each number in a different cell.  Since the spaces were there when I c&p'd the numbers, I guess excel isn't very c&p friendly.  Perhaps there's a number sorter program that can sort the numbers?  I did try one, but for some reason, it didn't record any 1s.  Maybe I should just do daily 4 since there's not as much numbers and it would be easier to record by hand?

I do appreciate the advice, I just don't know if I have the patience to do much by hand (plus, that's more prone to human error).

Don't despair, there is a way to work with the cut and pasted data.

Just cut and paste the data in a neat block if possible into a word document. Save the document as a txt file, then follow the instructions that I posted in this thread --> http://www.lotterypost.com/thread/204450/1473017?q=lottochica23&tab=us&rp=search

When you use the Excel Import Wizard you can use different characters as delimiters to separate the data into columns when imported. in your case you would most likely be using "Space" as a delimiter. Choose other delimiters as necessary. When you use the different delimiters you will get a preview of how the data will look in Excel.

I hope that you are able to work with the keno data you are interested in so that you can put your plan into action.

Good pointers! I am also new to spreadsheets/excel and this is some good insight. Thanks.

Using Excel 2007 so it may be different in 2003, once you have copied the information to a Excel spreedsheet, highlight the column you want

to seperate and click on Data, Data to Text, you can get a video of how this works, or just keep trying until you get it right, if the number are separated by a comman (,) or dash (-) change the information and see.  If you work it right, it will put each number in a cell by itself.

              Hope this helps

I don't recall if Excel 03 has text to columns. If it does, when you imported the data, everything was in a single cell, so you want to do Text to columns. see image

All great help guys.  CARBOB nailed the problem I've been having.  Though I have found some alternatives for my chart which work fine for now, this is still very helpful.  And yes, there will probably lots of trial and error, but I think I can get it.

Updated the Michigan Keno Excel file.

Here is the new download link:

                      http://www.box.net/shared/uko66dy6oh

Updated drawings to include Tuesday December 15, 2009

Added skip chart for all 80 numbers

Added  sort tables for total hits and current skips.

                      1.  To add a new drawing go to the Tab at the bottom labeled "Toolbars".  Click the Toolbar labeled "Clcik To Add New Drawing"

This will add a new line to the tab labeled "MIKeno" (Michigan Keno).

The date will automatically be updated in cell B1.  Enter the new draws starting in cell D1 in the Tab labeled "MIKeno"

Next go to the Tab at the bottom labeled : "SkipandHitsChart".  In cell column "D"is the list of all 80 numbers from 1 through 80.  To the left in cell column "B" is the "Total Hits" for entire Keno drawing history.

To the right in cell column "F" is the current skip of each of the corresponding numbers in cell column "B".

Next, go to the Tab at the bottom labled "SortedCharts".  There are 2 charts.  "Hits" (left side) and "Skips" on the right.  You will see 2 Toolbars.  the first one at the top is labeled "Click To Sort Total Hits and Current Skips".  Clicking this Toolbar will sort the Skips and Hits charts.  The "Skips" will be sorted according to the longest out number with the corresponding skip. The highest skip of course at the top and the most recent drawn numbers at the bottom.   The "HITS" chart will be sorted by the number with the highest number of hits at the top and the lowest number of Hits at the bottom.  There is a second Toolbar to "Re Sort" each of the charts.  Re-sorting will sort the charts by numbers 1 through 80 from low to high.  Low (1) at the top and high (80) at the bottom.

                      Good Luck!!!

                        Hello CARBOB et al-

                        Seasons Greeting Everyone,

                        Speaking of pairs-

Most interested in uncovering cold pairs that haven't shown in approx 150 games in 20/80 KENO.

Have a live game on line archive data source (analog) accessible of about 1000 past games but, sorry to say I am short on computer culture and or programing skills.

Thanks in advance for the patience; all constructive feedback for those inclined would be sincerley appreciated +

First a short but sincere note of thanks for speedy and courteous response CAROB.

The past performance  data is on the Station Casinos live keno display @

                            http://ww2.kenousa.com/Sunset_Station/Main/index.html?

Clicking on Historical records will give access to approx 1000 games.

The 24 hour central game information feed eminates from South Station , a local Vegas casino that is part of a multi state newtwok.

In the past I have been able to acquire a useful & extensive printed (text form) computer journal (for a service consideration). The past games numbers are printed in their exact outcome order and game number sequencely listed.

I am relatively new to computer culture and have not mastered how to collate or computize collected data into a meaningful form.

An ole 60's solider salutes you for your kind efforts on my & lottery board behalf.

It can be done, but it's a lot of cutting and pasting. Here's an image of the few I did. I would like to see a printed document.
