Hi Everyone:
Another tool for you toolbox. Here's a program that will give you an idea of how close your P3 lottery is to being random(and it should be pretty close). Of course we are assming that we'll be taking our measurements over the long haul, i.e. a year or so.
The program, p3RandomTest.exe, generates six random distinct digits for each of the days over which we are making our test. For a full wheel on these 6 digits, there are 216 selections, so the theoretical chances of winning are 216/1000 or 21.6%. So if we were, for example, to take the last 300 past P3 draws, we would expect approximately 65 winners with this strategy(a random 6 digit wheel). This, of course, assumes that the 300 draws represent a random selection. So that's simply the test. Here's how to get started:
First go to the link
http://cid-53e66599b04974a6.skydrive.live.com/browse.aspx/P3%20Random%20Test?uc=1&nl=1
and download p3RandomTest.exe into a working folder. In that same folder, prepare a text file of the last year or so of the past P3 draws. The limit is 1000 past draws. Call the file drawsP3.txt, and note that there is only one draw to a line, newest on top and oldest on bottom, and no extra characters allowed.
Next click on the icon, p3RandomTest.exe. You'll see a quick flash on the monitor, and this indicates that the program has finished running. Next, look in the working folder where you placed p3RandomTest.exe, and you'll see a text file called simu.txt. You can open this file with any text editor, such as Notepad. For each day, you'll see a seperate line with the six digits that were randomly slected and what the results were.
Here's a typical line:
Play 215 - 0 P3 wins 886 -> 012359 -> 0
The info indicates that that on the 215th day there was a 0 win, and that the winning draw for that day was 886. The randomly selected set of 6 digits were 012359 and 0 of these digts matched the digits of the winning draw. The results for this simulation are given on the last line, which looked something like this:
********The Bottom Line***************
Out of 359 plays there were 70 wins
Expected number of wins = 77
This program can be run any number of times, and each time a different set of win loose results will occur, because the six digits selected are randomly selected.
Look at the win loose patterns and the streaks of wins and losses.
