Hi Everyone:
I just received a PM from a P.L. Johnson, who claims his company in the U.K. has a registered trademark on the name box2Win. Consequently, he has asked me to change the name box2Win to something different.
Assuming his claim is legitimate, I will change the names of the two programs to boxToWinP3 and boxToWinP4, and I will ask all contributors, such as winsumloosesum, to make the same changes in their future threads.
Please watch for new versions of both programs. Both programs make their selections based on a 4 digit set of numbers which had the most no hits on the digits in the past draw file. There are two ways to find the set of 4 digits that work.
1. Go through the entire set of 4 digits. For each 4 digit set keep a count of the no hits for that set. If the count exceeds or is equal to the no hit count last maximal set, make the current set of four digits the"winner".
2. Go through the entire set of 4 digits. For each 4 digit set keep a count of the no hits for that set. If the count exceeds the no hit count of last maximal set, make the current set of four digits the"winner".
Do you see whats happening here? Let's say 4578 and 2476 are two sets that showed a maximal no hit count of 14. Using Rule 1. the program would show hits based on 4578, because 4578 is futher down in the list of the 4 digit sets and it tied 2476 for the no hit count of 14 (exceeds or is equal to). Using Rule 2 on the other hand ,the program would show hits based on the the digits 2476, because that was the first set it found in the list that had a maximal no hit count and no other 4 digit set was able to exceed the no hit count.
The program uses Rule 1. to make its determinations, so to show you exactly what's going on during the process, the new versions of boxToWinP3 and boxToWinP4 will show the maximal no hit counts and the corresponding 4 digit sets during the spinoff.
