MEGA MILLIONS 1 in 175,711,536 odds to win the jackpot and POWERBALL 1 in 195,249,056 odds to win the jackpot.Somebody will win, that is a fact.  It takes one set of numbers to win. whether you spend $1 or $100 in tickets. Each ticket line faces the odds of 1 in 175,711,536 for mega millions and 1 in 195,249,056 for powerball.

When you buy more than one ticket, you're no longer concerned about the odds of one ticket winning but the odds of a winning ticket being in your pool of tickets, that's the reason many players join a pool.

     * you don't need to buy more tickets, just buy a winning ticket *
