Does anyone get a warm and fuzzy feeling knowing even if you don't win big, you're helping to contribute to schools? It's almost like you're giving to charity.

Not really. Many states practice "voodoo accounting" and while lottery money goes into a school fund or "Bux for Education", an equal or greater amount is taken out of the school fund somewhere else.

Those who run the lotteries love it when players look for consistency in something that's designed not to have any.

    Lep

There is one and only one 'proven' system, and that is to book the action. No matter the game, let the players pick their own losers.

but that isn't my fault. I did my part. If someone gave money to a charity and the organization used most of the money for operating expenses, I think the person who donated should still feel good about themself.

America has terrible schools and unfortunately, through experience, we've learned that giving them more money doesn't help them one iota. We need to get rid of bad teachers, many of whom keep their jobs only through union thuggery.

So no, I don't get warm and fuzzy about giving money to schools.

               ABSOLUTELY NOT! Why?

"In Michigan, The Office of State Aid and School Finance is responsible for administering the State School Aid Act and distributing over eleven billion dollars in state funds to public school districts across the state. In addition, this office provides guidance on issues of school finance and tax policy, public school district financial accounting, various financing mechanisms available to school districts, and information on pupil accounting statutes and rules. Finally, the office provides interpretation, analysis, and coordination of Departmental activities related to the annual development of the State School Aid K-12 budget."

If standardized test scores and high school graduation rates are any indication to the way 11 billion dollars being spent on education in Michigan, we got an issue.

The issue in lansing right now is, Gov. Jennifer Granholm says Michigan students should be in class at least 180 days a year.

Most importantly, our leaders in Lansing must show they are dedicated to adequately funding education in Michigan. For too long they have paid little more than lip service to quality education. A longer school year will require more resources, and it should be done in a way that does not leave schools guessing from year to year how much money they will be receiving from the state. It is unfair to expect school boards to finalize budgets in mid-summer when legislators wrangle into the fall over how much funding to give them.

Michigan's young people most likely would benefit from a longer school year. But it would help them even more to know the quality of their education each year doesn't depend on the political winds blowing in Lansing.

Trust me we have a big blowing wind in Lansing. As a matter of fact we were blown away 2 years ago by Gov. Jennifer Granholm! Glad she will be out of office after this term. We can only hope President Obama does not want her on his team in any way shape or form, then she will have the oppurtunity to blow America away with her socialist agenda.

So until the wind stops blowing in Lansing and the lip service stops and our elected officials quit playing with the young peoples education i can not get a "warm fuzzy feeling"

If i was donating to charity i could deduct it from my taxes!

Thanks for low-balling your estimate tiggs, but no, I don't think warm and fuzzy too much when reminiscing about the exes. To the contrary, a few of them could keep the beer cold just by holding it close to their hearts. I hold no ill will towards any of the lot though. Some of 'em had some pretty dam good moves on the dance floor and elsewhere.
