The new year is going to bring and end to many instant games. Be sure to see if your favorite scratch-off is listed. If it is, you better stock up, because they will be gone on Saturday. The following games are set to end on December 31, 2010. That is the last date that a lottery retailer may legally sell those tickets. Some of them sold all of their top prizes, while others close for other reasons, of which I am not certain. Probably because there was a time limit set on them when they came out, they are not profitable or not selling very well, or perhaps because they are making way for new games. Here is a list of the ending games:

Jack-o-Lantern Cash, Ace in the Hole, Lucky Roll, Cash Fiesta, Shades of Green, Red Hot Millions, $400,000 Fast Play, The Price Is Right, Spicy Cash, Cashword II, In The Chips, Crazy 7's.

You can still cash in winners of those games until March 31, 2011, but after that, they are worthless pieces of paper, unless you are a collector. I hate to see Jack-o-Lantern Cash go, because it was the first game that I won $100 on, and it was a $1 ticket at that, meaning that I won 1 in 4,800 odds! I very rarely played any of the other listed games. Is anyone else going to miss any of these games, and what is the most that you have won on any of these?

Just for fun, I will include the best chances of winning a certain dollar amount, for each price point. This list is by no means all-inclusive. I have arbitrarily decided to list the tickets within the approximate range of half of the odds to twice the odds, as it compares to Jack-O-Lantern Cash odds of 1 in 4,800 when I won $100 on that game. That means odds of roughly 2,400 to 9,600, but I allowed a little leeway.  As I have beaten those odds, it makes me hopeful what I may win, especially on the larger tickets, assuming that I get those odds. Feel free to list the highest payout on the smallest ticket, and of course the odds if you know them. These listed are for Georgia, and are reprinted from http://www.lottohideout.net

$5,000......1 in 10,000, Millionaire Jumbo Bucks

Look at the odds listed of 1 in 10,000, and compare the $2 ticket and the $20 ticket. For 10 times the cost of the ticket, you can win 25 times the prize money for the same given odds! Now that is what I am talking about! Why would anyone want to throw away money on those silly little $1 or $2 games? Oddly enough, the odds between $2 Jumbo Bucks Classic and $5 Giant Jumbo Bucks is the same for winning $500, so the bigger ticket is not always a better bargain 100% of the time, automatically. In this case you could get the same odds for 40% less on the $2 ticket, but I think this is the exception, not the rule. Isn't the lottery odd?
