Saturday Lotto changes set to deliver more WA winners
Exciting changes to Western Australia's favourite Lotto game, Saturday Lotto, will occur this month providing players with more opportunities to win a prize.
A key change to the game is the introduction of an additional prize division which will double players' chances to have a win*. Players will be able to win a Division Six prize with just one of the winning numbers plus the two supplementary numbers.
Lotterywest Chief Executive Officer Jan Stewart said the extra prize division would deliver thousands more local winners in each draw.
"It will help to ensure that Saturday Lotto remains attractive to our players, giving more of them a winning experience," she said.
The other change being made to Saturday Lotto is a price increase from 55 cents per game to 60 cents per game (plus retailer commission).
As Saturday Lotto is a national game, these changes have been decided on by all the members of the Australian Lottery Bloc and are effective in all States and Territories.
"The small increase in the price of Saturday Lotto will support a strong Division One prize offering for players to share in each week, as well as the Division One prize for regular Saturday Lotto Superdraws held throughout the year," Ms Stewart said.
"The total amount allocated to the Division One prize on base weeks will be determined by the level of sales for each draw. We expect that following the game changes, the average estimated Division One prize pool will exceed $4 million."
Ms Stewart said the increase in sales expected from the game changes would enable Lotterywest to raise additional funds for the Western Australian community.
"With increased support for Saturday Lotto, more money can be directed to support our hospitals, sports and arts groups, as well as the thousands of community organisations around the State which receive direct grants from Lotterywest."
The first Saturday Lotto draw to incorporate the changes will be Draw 3081 on 29 January, 2011.
The Saturday Lotto game changes will not affect Monday and Wednesday Lotto, OZ Lotto, Powerball, Soccer Pools, Super66 or Cash 3.
*The odds of winning any prize will change from 1: 210.3 games to 1: 85.4 games
