Just wondering if anyone's ever tried using some of the lucky numbers from a fortune cookie's fortune paper?

I believe a jackpot was won by a whole lot of people this way, but I can't recall the state, which is why I wouldn't play them.

I've played 'em when I'm half in the bag.

Which is most of the time.

I got in a big brouhaha one time in a restaurant over not getting my fortune cookie.

The cops that tackled me said something about sushi bars not having fortune cookies.

They should have a sign on the door then.

        Bastages.

I don't bother looking at fortune cookie numbers anymore after reading my fortune the last time. The last one I read  one was about 5 years ago and it said....."You're Screwed"....

It's probably her on LP if you do a search for "fortune cookie" but there was a news story of people all over the country playing numbers from a fortune cookie and they hit one of the lower prizes, I think.

            Joker17, remember that one?

            So yes, people play them.

Those who run the lotteries love it when players look for consistency in something that's designed not to have any.

            Lep

There is one and only one 'proven' system, and that is to book the action. No matter the game, let the players pick their own losers.

110 winners with something like a $19 million total payout.

"The workers put numbers in a bowl and pick them. "We are not going to do the bowl anymore; we are going to have a computer," Mr. Wong said. "It's more efficient."

And so Mr Wong got a computer to pick the fortune cookie numbers and they haven't had a big winner since.

                  Good work, Mr Wong.   Sad

Powerball: Fortune cookie bet made Powerball lottery players rich
E-mail to a friendPrinter-friendlyLink to this storyFavoritesPowerball lottery officials suspected fraud: how could 110 players in the March 30 drawing get five of the six numbers right? That made them all second-prize winners, and considering the number of tickets sold in the 29 states where the game is played, there should have been only four or five.

Many different brands of fortune cookies come from Wonton Food's Long Island City factory.

But from state after state they kept coming in, the one-in-three-million combination of 22, 28, 32, 33, 39.

It took some time before they had their answer: the players got their numbers inside fortune cookies, and all the cookies came from the same factory in Long Island City, Queens.

Chuck Strutt, executive director of the Multi-State Lottery Association, which runs Powerball, said on Monday that the panic began at 11:30 p.m. March 30 when he got a call from a worried staff member.

The second-place winners were due $100,000 to $500,000 each, depending on how much they had bet, so paying all 110 meant almost $19 million in unexpected payouts, Mr. Strutt said. (The lottery keeps a $25 million reserve for odd situations.)

                        Continues:

There was the couple back east, I think in New York. they never played lotto but decided to one day because the jackpot was soooo big. So, what numbers to play they wondered. Wait, where is that fortune cookie numbers we saved 2 yrs. ago? The found it in their dresser drawer and played it and it won the jackpost!

                          This was several years ago.
