So let's say you buy 10 $10.00 tickets, bring them home to scratch off only to find out that they're all losers.
What to do?
Stay home and call it a day - or go out and (hopefully) the next ticket in the series will be there for purchase. Could be a big winner.
It's happened to me. Got to the store in time, and the next ticket was still there for purchase, so I bought it and scratched it at the store and lo and behold, it was a $250.00 winner. But that only happened once. More often than not, the next ticket has been small winners, which means that the person who previously purchased the tickets was probably the one that ended up with somewhat of a good payout.
So, what would you do? Call it a day - or take a chance and chase?

Ralphie; for me it would depend on the price of the scratcher i.e. $1, $2, $5, $10, $20 or $50. If it's $5.00 & under I say go for it; but when you get to the $20.00 games you have to have self control if not you could find yourself in trouble financially chasing tickets....
I say go with your gut & what you could afford to play...........

Depending on how much cash I have in my pocket, I'll go back and check to see what number they are on. If I can get the next ticket, I might buy a few more. Although, what makes me really mad is when I do that and I get a $2 winner after spending like $20.

If the place is close, I would go back. ticket #11 could hit for $10 and ticket 12 could hit for $100. Most likely though ticket #11 will be $10 and then start another losing streak. I guess for me it is the somewhat piece of mind of getting the next vs not knowing if someone just hit big on it. A store I regular, I bought ticket #17 and it lost. Went back 2 days later(didnt plan to buy more) and ticket #18 was hanging up for $1000. Makes me wonder how many other times I was within a few tickets of decent winners. actually I prefer not to know. I also had 7 losing $20 in a row. The 8th one hit a 10X for $10. I still lost , but that $100 help offset the previous $140 I lost. I think it is very common for the lesser tickets to go 10 in a row, but for $5 tickets and greater, I would def get the next one or two(if I know I can't stay there and play).

The times i know of me being withing a few tickets of a win were a $10K and $45K prize. i know about any prize over $50K in my area and looks like i have not bought from rolls with higher payouts. possibly a year ago i might of played from a roll that won $100K, well i know that i visited that store at least 2-3 times a week and played that same $5 ticket ... then of course the time when the old lady in line before me bought a ticket and won $5K.... but from experience after long losing streaks the win usually is face value or 2x face value.....

That line is what drives it home for me.
I have been in this situation (luckily) ONLY a time or 3. The main one that comes to mind was walking away from a Kroger with no more money til the next morning when I got paid. Shortly after arriving home it hit me that one of the remaining $20 tickets I had been buying might be "THE ONE"
So I went back the next morning before the gym. STILL CLOSED. Came back an hour later and got the remaning few (12, 13, 14, and 15). None were huge winners but the the $125 I won back after spending 220 was fine with me.
Sad thing is when I cashed htem at the store and they gave me a Money order, the clerk said "wow big winner!!!" and I told him "nope, not when you consider what I paid to get it"
Above all I just try not to get in to that situation. Cursed scratchers will do that to you though!
