While at the casino this weekend I was thinking about casino gambling in relation to the lottery. Of course your mind knows the odds you're up against in any game of chance.... but it really hits home when you sit in front of a machine. If you've ever wondered why it takes so long to win something or why you haven't won anything yet ever in the lottery you might want to think of this scenario.....
Imagine driving a couple of hours to your local Indian casino. Or hopping a plane to Vegas, Reno, Tahoe, Atlantic City. You've decided on trying your luck at the video keno machines. In your pocket, a slip of paper with 6 carefully figured out numbers are ready to play as soon as you walk in the door.
The noise hits you at first...and the smoke. Flashy colored lights...bells.. music..ding ding ding ding dingys all over the place.
You spot the $1.00 machines and sit down at the first seat that's open. Slowly you put a buck into the one armed bandit and punch in your 6 lucky numbers. This is it! The anticipation can be overwhelming!!
You push the button. The numbers are drawn so fast!! You look and see 1 of your numbers lit up.
Game Over.
How many times have you ever hit 6 out of 6 in your first pull? (Or even your 487th?)
It's over so quickly. Now imagine standing up and walking towards the door. Session is over for the day. Get back in your car...take a taxi to the airport...you're going home.
Until next week when you come back and try again!
YOU know the odds...but sooner or later....the odds tip a little in your favor. You start hitting 2...3...4 numbers.
Stick with your numbers....no matter what game you play. It's hard, I know, but in the long run I believe it's your best shot at winning a jackpot :) Just my 2 cents.
