I couldn't copy and paste the e-mail the way it came, here's the text typed out:

(The first part of this is specific to Missouri)

More millionaires for Missouri. The Match 5 prize increases 5X to $1million (Missouri will average 24 more millionaires a year). Match 5 with Powerplay - Prize doubles to $2 million.

Bigger Jackpots

Starting jackpot doubles to $40 million. The minimum roll doubles to $10 million. Average jackpots won will increase from $141 million to $255 million.

Better chances

Overall- from 1:35 to 1:31.8

Jackpots - From 1:195 million to 1:175 million

$2 Powerball starts Jan 15 2012

_____________________________________________________________________

I wonder if they will actually decrease the matrix. 1:175 million is Mega Million odds, so will PB became a 5/56 1/46 game?

If they know that about 24 more people in Missouri will hit 5 + 0 this definitely inplies they have it all down to a science.

I wonder if they're being a little too optimistic about people playing $2 and an extra $1 for the Powerplay, as it is rright now the average play is $1.

Those who run the lotteries love it when players look for consistency in something that's designed not to have any.

There is one and only one 'proven' system, and that is to book the action. No matter the game, let the players pick their own losers.

I took that to mean the 24 players in Missouri that match 5+0 and would normally get $200K before will be getting $1M with the $2 tickets.  The matrix size doesn't have to change for that to happen.  Under the new system Powerplay will only double the top prize rather than multiply it by 5

      RJOh,

If you subscribe to the Missouri Lottery e-mails they occassionally send out surveys about proposed games.

Those surveys will have questions such as, "This game will likely have 23 winners a year, etc..etc..., would you play it?"

I know the 24 in the e-mail above is probably an average, but still.

As far as the matrix changoing or not, how are the odds going to go from 1 in 195 million to q in 175 million without a matrix change?

Sorry I missed that point, looks like they will reduce the PowerBall pool to 35 and have a matrix of 5/59+1/35.

          5/5+B    1 : 175223510          1
