NJ payout sucks. Why can they just give you $500 for a $1 straight like NYL.
Hi Stalyn,
I've had this discussion with a friend who used to live in Florida. They have a fixed payouts in Florida. I'm not sure what the amounts are, but they account for doubles somehow too. I've had mixed feelings about the way NJ does things, but I think I'm beginning to lean towards them having a fixed payout amount at this point. At least you know the amount that you'll win when you do win. It's a bit like gambling in the dark in NJ. It's true, you can do very well if you're fortunate enough to win on a number that pays extremely well. I'm just not sure it's worth it in the long run, in my opinion. There's something nice about knowing how much you'llwin per 50 cent bet. I don't know what they do in NY, but in Florida they will limit the number of people who can play a certain number though to minimize their losses. You said in NY they pay $500 for a $1 straight. Can you bet 50 cents in NY and win $250? In NJ, the minimum bet is 50 cents for a straight, but again, it's anyone's guess how much a win will pay. I don't think I'd be upset if they changed the system. I honestly don't know how others feel about it. I used to like the New Jersey's system, but I've been having second thoughts about it recently.

Gotta tell ya the truth Captain, this naming the team approach just isn't working for me.
It's not the name "SAL", it's the whole concept of naming the team that seems a little off to me.
Also, IHA = I hate acronyms. The magic is fading at a rapid rate for me. I tried Capt., I really did.
I came up with a name and I tried to warm up to the acronyms but it just isn't working for me.
That doesn't mean it isn't working for anyone else, it just isn't working for me.
Hi karinda, sorry you feel that way, but everyone is entitled to their opinion. :) Well, the voting is still active until next Monday, and a vote of "don't change a thing" (no name for NJL) is certainly an valid vote. Just let me know if you would like to change yours.
When I thought of this idea (maybe it wasn't my idea?! I can't remember what I had for breakfast yesterday!! LOL) I thought it would be fun, and add a little spice into our everyday activities here on the NJ thread. If folks don't think we should name NJL, the majority rules, and I have no problem with majorities :,)) And whatever the outcome of the voting, no on is obliged to call NJL the chosen name. I've always loved the "freedom of speech" thing here in the USA, and despite the fact that some folks say NJ is in a planet all to its own, we exercise that freedom on this thread.
Thanks for your input K. I certainly understand where you're coming from, and in this case, one size certainly does not fit all!
P.S. - we are not trying to name the team. This name is meant to be used when referring to the NJL, so in a sense, we are using personification! LOL
